I just looked up the units on the X axis. LHZ means low frequency or long period. The frequency per second or Hertz is 0.01-10 Hz that is being detected.
The entire time on the x axis is 60 minutes or one hour sped up through a 24 second gif.

Because a lot of our ground is basically jello (historical silt deposit from the Mississippi River) instead of bedrock and absorbs it.
