I was in the other thread as a dude who loved his job.

Network Sales Engineer.

Man. 5 of the posts ITT are IT jobs. Maybe there’s something there.

ETA: in the other thread I said “I love my job when I’m doing what I’m hired for. I just don’t like it when I have meetings and busy work to make up for slow times.”

Today I brought that comment up to my boss and he said “you’re right. We need to find ways to make you do more of what we hired you for.”

Hope it pans out.

Self employed Cattle Rancher... I retired at 53 to do this full time instead of trying to hold down another job and run cattle on the side. Enjoy my days but I work a lot of hours.

After job hopping several times, and now being on a team Ive liked for 7 years of the same people, it’s better to know your own team than to keep starting over. The job itself isn’t great, but the people that surround it are, and we keep ourselves off the radar, while having a good time.

The funny thing about that is that I’m in IT and I f’ing hate IT consultants.

Either be technical or GTFO.

I work with mentally ill teenagers. Helping them become productive citizens is tough but rewarding.

Those are fun to do and I’m noticing more of the sales tax sharing.

Other piece is the utility tax credits that is pretty fun to do and usually low on the annual compliance.

In IT I can see that you really need to be more technical. In the c&i space I find you need both. If you don’t have a technical mind it’s hard to make a good proposal for a client to actually monetize and if you aren’t good at pitching why they should consider a credit then it doesn’t really matter how technical you are.
