Most brands seem to think promoting themselves to the SJW groups is better than not.
It is definitely not "most"
It is a handful

There won't be anything close to amount of political aimed ads as people in this thread are making it out to be

I hate all commercials during any sports event. For me, commercials are a signal to take a piss or get another drink or a bite to eat. I really dislike this SJW bullshite virtue signaling crap and will go out of my way to avoid those advertisers and their products.

Most here are too poor or ignorant to have a WSJ subscription so I linked the entire article

You probably often feel like this:

At least someone gets it. I don;t see the upside to abandoning 1/2 of you potential buyer in order to potentially win a few new ones.
Its been described as Woke Capitalism; where companies pretend to care about social justice to sell products to people who pretend to hate capitalism.

Does it matter that much? I don't really think so because I don't think most people actually have the conviction to change buying habits, but I don't agree that companies have it figured out.
I'm saying that brands think they have their customers figured out. Sometimes they're wrong though. However, I think they're aware of the numbers you posted. They know most people don't want to see it, but they do it anyway because they believe they can move sales in a meaningful way.
I think they're wrong, and the numbers seem to suggest sales are rarely impacted, but that's their belief nonetheless.
My point is that these brands know the average consumer doesn't want to hear it, but they also know the average consumer won't do shite about it either.

I'm not gonna change my product preferences based on ads, but it's annoying as shite watching some preachy bullshite from major corporations that don't live up to the values and purpose they claim to have in their ads.
If a company walks the walk, then I'm not nearly as bothered by their talk. But 99% don't so please stfu.

No. You are the majority.
People might voice their displeasure when asked, but the majority don't care based off their actions/buying habits.
I disagree.
I don't know how it affects buying habits in general, but the NFL has received backlash for taking similar stances and Chic Filet got a bump by standing up for itself.
Regardless, it's becoming wearisome to constantly see political correctness forced fed to us every day by the entertainment industry, advertisers, the news and now sports. I don't understand how this type of advertising benefits a business when it alienates or potentially alienates half of the consumers they are targeting.
