Will be coming through Dallas tomorrow from Kansas City on the way to Huntsville. How bad is construction in the area? Any place I need to try to avoid?

Depending on time of day. The Tollway north of Bush Turnpike is a construction zone and it's a parking lot during rush hour. Outside of rush hour I-35 moves briskly.

It’s perpetual construction but it’s the holiday and traffic is lighter than normal.

You can save a few minutes by planning to come through during non peak hours.

If you're taking US 75 to I-45 you will probably miss a lot of the problems.

But tune in to KRLD 1080 for traffic alerts, and if there are problems on 75 south of I-635 (LBJ Freeway) then take it around through Garland and Mesquite then reconnect with I-45 south of town.

Avoid all these telling you to take I-35--that's way out of your way (especially I-35W through Fort Worth).

Is this the thread where people in Louisiana with shitty roads talk shite about Dallas always improving their roads?

Make sure you get through Dallas between 10 AM and 2 PM and you're fine. There's very little construction on the route you will take through Dallas, I35 to Woodall Rodgers to I45 or US75 through to I45

I just moved to Dallas a week ago and I’ve never seen so much highway construction in my life. And that’s after 12 years of living in Houston

You'd waste a lot of driving trying to avoid traffic. It's only like 8 miles from 635 to 45. Not to mention, if it's the afternoon rush when 75 gets bad, 635 east is 100 times worse.

You either live or commute around the Dallas Horseshoe or come in from North Dallas (like most of us minue TH03) and use 35E / or the DNT.
