SS is a trophy husband. Don't let him fool you. He found a chick with Daddy's money and smartly he knocked her up and then moved in on the family business.

Is your wife a Dr or something?

FYI, I am not knocking SS either as my wife comes from money but in order for us to benefit from it I would have to move my fat arse to Indonesia. Her mom has told us to retire there and we would want for nothing but I told my wife the only option would be Bali. Not Jakarta where she is from. My wife agreed because Jakarta is full of Muslims she said.

One very basic problem fueling all of this is the manner in which our economy is increasingly based on shite jobs.

Chain/big box stores, overseas manufacturing, subcontracting everything to part time, freelancers, franchisees etc etc.

The "cost cutting" genius of CEO poster boy business illuminaries mainly increase shareholder billions in direct proportion to replacing middle class jobs with shite jobs.

The trickle down of all this is less middle class people able to afford products and services done by decently paid workers. So, more shite jobs.

Honey that immigrants, and only desperate immigrants, flock to.

Want to really address these problems? Don't do it with policy designed to make Americans desperate enough they have to simply take shite jobs. Aim the policy at the exact dynamics replacing jobs that provide a decent middle class wage with shite jobs.

owns a business locally and has worked her arse off and done very well. I dont want to put out what on here at least

she doesnt come from money or anything and we have everything we have through our own hard work and inherited nothing

back to the topic....Im with you..I think, at least around LC, you are going to see a correction. There are a lot more illegals than people think.

Is it going to hurt new home construction....sure but that is ok becasue we onyl need to build new homes if the population is actually growing

i do hope the administration continues on after criminals first....then goes after the ones here from muslim countries second then the rest

Do you hire illegals?

Like I said, no. I mean I don't know how many ways I have to put it. Out main guy makes more than 90% of the people on this board, has a good size house in a nice neighborhood, has a family that all speaks English, a licensed and insured business, pays his taxes, and is a good contributor to society. You just make assumptions simply because he has brown skin.

quote:

10 years??? That is a pathetic and dishonest attempt. No wonder you are justifying your hiring of illegals. You are part of the problem. I always have things with work at the house that I want to ask questions about what a worker is doing or not doing.

The only sub I use Mexicans on is roofing, so that is the only area I was talking about. You seem like the one that is hiring illegals that can't speak English if you have people working on your house other than roofers that can't speak English. I don't have that issue. I'm also a GC, not a roofer so I'm not the guy going out and knocking on doors. Never once in the history of our company has a single person ever had to knock on a door.

quote:

Archiving and perusing your post history or even just doing word searches might come up with some info ICE can use for their next raid. This isn’t the sleepy Joe administration helping to bring you in more workers. They will be coming for your crew, and it will be fun to watch.

I'm 100% my main guys will not be deported. It's not something I have lost any sleep about and I've talked to them about it. If someone on their crew does get deported then I'm sure they deserved to because they were illegal. Good.

I lost an 18 year old nephew who was like a son to me to fentanyl poisoning. The POS last administration and their pussified policies were part of the reason and allowing so much drugs through the borders. It has directly impacted me. I hate what is going on more than most. But I don't hate someone just because they are brown, if they are legal and hard workers I'm not going t hold the color of their skin against them like you are.

exactly. again, I believe in immigration. i believe in what the Bible says about how we are to treat the foreigner.

Libs cherrypick golden rule arse Bible verses taken out of context and clobber us over the head with them but conveniently forgot when Jesus said “if you don’t have a sword, sell your cloak and buy one”, when Jesus beat up the payday loan guys with a whip, or when he made the bums dig around in the dirt to find his spit to cure their blindness

This is the most moronic thought process ever..immigrants don't contribute to the debt, they. Are a net positive to our economy

I wholeheartedly disagree. Let’s add some math to this debate instead of your poorly thought out opinion.

fairus.org: The Financial Burden of Illegal Immigration

since I doubt you’ll take the time to open the link, I’ll borrow the figures fairus.org uses to summarize:

Total Government Expenditures on Illegal Aliens:

Total Federal Expenditures: $66,449,136,000
+ Total State Expenditures: $115,608,730,000
= $182,057,865,000

Total Tax Contributions from Illegal Aliens:
Total Federal Taxes Paid: $16,219,495,000
+ Total State Taxes Paid: $15,172,140,000
= $31,391,635,000

So, Total Tax Burden of Illegal Aliens:
$182,057,865, 000 total expenditures on illegal aliens
- $31,391,635,000 total tax contributions from illegal aliens
= $150,666,230,000

$150 billion dollars in 2023.

Now, explain to me how illegal immigrants are a net positive for our economy. What do they contribute that offsets $150 billion?

And that’s 2023. We let in another 3-5 million illegal aliens in 2024. This problem will only continue to snowball. And that’s just the economics. Seriously, consider what you are saddling the next generations of Americans with by just throwing your hands up, and saying, “our blueberry prices and sheetrock installation are gonna skyrocket”. It’s a lazy and ignorant argument proving you either have an ulterior motive to support illegal immigration or you’re brainwashed.

Not to mention the impact on our medical industry, impact on housing availability, impact on public schools, etc. Not to mention the vast vast majority of these people despise us, our culture, and our history. They have no intention to integrate into our society. They only want to take and stick their hands out for tax payer funded assistance.

cut off government assistance completely at the state and federal level. Then i’ve got a $150 billion dollar budget to deport their asses. I think we can manage to get it done.

Then as I previously stated:

quote:

Deport all illegal immigrants and their families. Require them to apply for work visas through a straightforward process. Allow employers to lawfully hire any illegal immigrant who obtains a new work visa. If an individual has a job and a valid work visa, they—and their family—can stay.

However, if someone is caught without a work visa, they should be permanently banned from entry. If a person holds a work visa but does not have a job, they have three months to secure employment or face deportation, along with their family.

Illegal immigrants without said work visa should be banned in all 50 states from obtaining a driver’s license, applying a credit card, opening a bank account, getting a loan of any kind, attending any public school or university, and most importantly applying for state or federal assistance of any kind and never allowed to vote in any election at any level.

Come here legally or suffer the fricking consequences.

If only you could get a work visa for non-temporary labor. Can’t.

Needs to be one. A legal path to what we need and are doing.

Exactly. No one, outside of people with an ulterior motive or who have been brainwashed by their political team, should be opposed to actual meaningful illegal immigration reform.

There is common ground to be found. Resulting in an immigration reform where our economy isn’t destroyed, yet we aren’t drowning with the burden of illegal immigration now and going forward.

i get it but he has been in business for 30 years. A lot of them have been with him for years if not decades. He buries his head on who is illegal or not, technically has no idea but he isn't stupid

i don't really blame him for operating the way he does. He needs people that show up every day. It is not about the money, he makes plenty.

Anyone that's been on a job in the south knows there are significant portion of the labor pool that can't pass a piss test, won't show up daily and have bitch arse attitude. Mexicans might be hungover as frick but they'll be there.

The other issue is that if you are low skill but willing to work, you'll make a lot more with a CDL than you will banging out a roof in 100 degrees.

That's only the cost that we can directly calculate. There are hidden costs and burdens too. Like for example how many of them drive around with no insurance thus raising premiums on the insured.

Apparently ICE rolled in on a residential construction site 2 days ago around Gonzales and cuffed 5 illegals and took them away to never been seen again. Have a few superintendents I know that watched it go down. Everyone in the construction industry is in a panic bc their workers are getting wiped.. any one else experiencing this??

20-25 years ago construction sites were filled with whites and blacks in the south at least. you would never see a hispanic worker and people made very good money. maybe its time to get people back to work.

My mom was a painter and she would knock down 50-70k a year as a painter back in the 90's. That was very good money for that type of job back then.
