Pittsburgh is in Pennsylvania. Pittsburg is in Kansas and Texas.

I moved to Pittsburgh from Louisiana about four years ago and have really enjoyed my time here. Tons of stuff to do and the city keeps getting better. The city is made up of neighborhoods and it really depends what you are looking for as for the best place to live. As for neighborhoods within the city, I would recommend Shadyside, Lawerencevlle, Regent Square, Bloomfield, Friendship, or Squirrel Hill. There are also some really nice apartments and condos in the Strip District and Downtown that are worth checking out. Shadyside and Lawerenceville are probably the two most popular right now with a lot of bars and restaurants but really every neighborhood has their own main street area with bars, restaurants, shops, etc. Then there are two more suburban areas: the north hills and the south hills which are probably better for if you have a family or are looking to have a family in the near future. Again, I didn't expect much when moving here but I've been had a great time outside of some cold stretches during the winter.

Pittsburgh is not better than NOLA. I’d rather live in Detroit.

I’m over living in “downtowns” and more interested in quiet/relaxing “suburban life”... so if anyone knows some of the better suburbs (low crime, good schools, etc.) ...but still not a crazy commute into downtown business district
If this is the case, a lot of people like Mount Lebanon in the South Hills; however, commuting to Downtown through the tunnels can be a bitch during rush hour. In the North Hills, Fox Chapel, Hampton, Sewickley, and Wexford and popular spots. Plum and Oakmont are some solid eastern suburbs.

I know, but it’s potentially a really legit job and a good step up with my company...
Pittsburgh is great

Pittsburgh is badass. I didn’t expect much, but it’s a far cry from the post-steel mill depression. It’s one of the few rust belt cities that seems to have revitalized downtown. Cleveland needs to follow suit ASAP.
I’m constantly mentioning to my future wife that I am ready to move out of South Texas. The heat is awful, and it kills whatever energy I have.
From a cost of living standpoint, Pittsburgh seemed like a decent place to move to, but alas, she doesn’t want to be away from family.

Reading this board for years, this seems to be the biggest hindrance of people moving.

I feel like an a-hole for being willing to uproot and move across country. Then again, my parents would be the first ones to tell us to go.

I did some work in the Wexford North Hills area a few miles north of Pittsburgh. Friendly people, awesome local places. I was there in the wintertime too and it wasn't bad at all. People in the area were telling me it was one of the wealthier suburbs, especially toward Wexford.

Upper St Clair was nice 5 years ago when I was there. Easy drive into Pittsburgh and really nice suburb.

I'd move there just to be able to hang out at PNC Park and catch Pirate games. It's in the top 2-3 MLB parks I've been to.
Too bad the Pirates suck.

Pittsburgh and Columbus are two major rust belt cities that diversified their economy and are the two best major cities in the rust belt. Far better than Cleveland, Cincinnati, Detroit, etc.

So “North Hills” is an area/neighborhood?
I lived in the North Hills after Katrina and loved it. Was very quiet and had some decent bars around there. I honestly regret moving back to New Orleans however I think the cold weather would have played havoc on my body.

I was born and raised in Moon. I had an amazing childhood. The only thing I don’t miss are the winters.
