All of the parochial schools go in waves

There is a lot of truth in this, but often for a wide array of reasons. A change of administrations will have an effect, but also the age demographics of surrounding neighborhoods. Areas can see an increase or decrease in young families and this will drive enrollment at the nearby schools, making some seem better or worse at any given time.

The other part of this conversation often overlooked is that some schools are simply a better fit for both the family and the children. Anyone selecting a school would do well to visit more than one, spend time at school events where you can get a true feel for the community, and strongly consider the environment your child needs to thrive. While some schools are objectively producing better results than others, the differences are often more about the school community than the school itself.

and they have to apply for it and only submit their top 20% (maybe only 10%) of their testing scores

OLL in Mandeville only has 3 Blue Ribbons "awards" or whatever y'all are fighting over. I've never heard any of their parents bragging about it or arguing with other adults about it. There may be a correlation between all of this Baton Rouge aggression and the crime rate. It would be interesting to see violent crime in EBR vs St Tammany to see if there is an relationship.

I’m unhinged, but not on this. Literally no one has St Jude on their list unless you live around there. I lived across the street and after one tour decided SGS was exponentially a better fit.

And if you’re kids are into Cotillion, Dance at Taris etc…just know the St Jude kids are the weird ones.

I only have daughters. Your mileage may vary. I do know there’s not a boy parent in town who would choose to send their boy there if he can walk and chew gum at the same time.

I'm not sure of your intention but you're kind of coming off as an a-hole here. And I'm saying this as a kid who went through the BR Catholic schools machine and now as a parent who's kids are at SGS now.

I know families with kids at SGS, St Jude, Mercy, SJV, MBS, STM, Aloysius and Alphonsus. They're all pretty good schools that dutifully send their kids to Catholic, SJA and St Michael where I guess you'll get a chance to argue the merits of later on when your kids are picking where to go then. Is a guy dropping a little flex on his kids' school really that much of a threat to you?

They sure did. I see that now. Thanks for the corrections.

But how's their presence in Cotillion and Dance by Taris?

I'm guessing Collins chaperones the dances since he knows so much about it.

My kids are nerds so they don't even know what Cotillion is, nor would they care.

So this is great..But you know all of the Private BR Catholic schools have acheived this award in recent years. MBS, SGS, STM, Aloysius.etc

Its a function of how aggresive the principal is in assessing itself during the nomination process...Not saying its bad, but its really a "MEH" award.

Now with the end of the Department of Education, Blue Ribbon Sttus is discontinued

As something to point at and say, "my school is better", I don't like it when people draw that conclusion. When a school is willing to take the effort to go through the process, and possibly helping ensure they have addressed weak areas of concern, it seems like a positive exercise. It also is a way to recognize and celebrate good, well run schools. I'm disappointed the program has been terminated.
