Big upgrade? Hardly. Rutgers is a state school, not some Ivy League institution. Every Guido can get in there. And it’s in… New Jersey. A complete dump perennially run by leftists. Any SEC school is nice than that shithole.
You’re retarded.

Would be devastating if true. Tate has been doing work both academically and athletically for LSU.
It's true,and he has.

I was afraid stupid fricking Landry would run him off with his bullshite.
I'm not sure if it was Landry or simply having an opportunity at a significantly better academic university..

I'm sure Landry didn't help, but he may have had this in his sights regardless. His time at LSU is what got him noticed. Before that he was at USCe for a year and had been an academic dean at Washington U in St Louis.

Does anyone have any EVIDENCE that the governor ran Tate off...or do just accept opinions as fact
But there has been friction since Landry won the race.
We have also seen Landry push the state to change the rules so that he can have to power to appoint any individual to a committee that isn’t an elected position, allowing him to completely overhaul major state committees in his image. You don’t think he wanted to do the exact same thing with the LSU school system?

I hope they get someone who will focus on establishing LSU as more of an educational destination designed to attract students from out of state and raise the bar for kids in state.

People need to stop believing every stat spit out about rising incoming test scores. Just like unemployment and inflation, they cook the numbers to look better. It is not consistent at all with how previous years were calculated and a big chunk of it I simply done to make lsu look better without actually being better.
They are also not the only school to do this as most are. It’s ridiculous in reality because they try to use it as justification of their improvement, when the evidence shows some progress but not near as much as they like to claim.

Obviously you have zero dealings with him or LSU

LSU has turned out only two president/chancellors to climb the ladder Emmert and Tate. Since LSU switched to hiring gypsie head administers, most have been duds. The Bd Supervisors are not an impressive bunch.
There are some hard truths about LSU. Many faculty and alums want a strong academic/research university, but many more fans and dip-shite pols don't care in the least. The State is too poor to have a top state U.

Well, what if I told you its about to get worse? (because its going to get worse)

Absolutely.
LSU has become addicted to TOPS and Pell Grants at the expense of good students. The ugly truth is LSU treats potential students awful if they are out of state students from families that aren’t Pell eligible.
The alumni base with college aged kids is fuming. Arkansas, Oklahoma, Alabama, Ole Miss, State and Florida are getting LSU legacy kids and LSU doesn’t care. The Alumni Association is pissed because donor pools are shallow.
A Louisiana kid that grows up an LSU fan with a 30 ACT shouldn’t have to worry about scholarships.

How stupid are you people? You honestly think an academics guy would pick LSU over Rutgers?

Tate was a decent president but nothing ground breaking. Reality is that he didn’t have the clout to honestly fight against the entrenched political landscape in Louisiana.
Landry and others are more than happy to watch LSU tread water and dip a little if it means their precious ULL gets to try and be better.
It’s ridiculous because ULL will never have the infrastructure of a program like LSU but rather than building up their best program they will hurt it to try and build up other mediocre programs.
Then you have LSU focused on athletics way too much as is much of its “fanbase” and academics takes a back seat to paid professional athletes with no care for LSU nor loyalty.
It’s all arse backwards with this current system and I think Tate likely 1) got fed up with it and 2) got offered a significantly better position. Rutgers is a top 40 university in the country. LSU is 179.
Good for him and hope he succeeds there.

I’ve seen it mentioned several times that LSU isn’t good at attracting or wanting out of state kids. Well they damn sure aren’t doing great with smart in state kids from what I can see.
Alabama, Ole Miss, and even some others have pulled a lot of the Catholic schools kids from the Nola area by offering way more to these kids that LSU basically ignored.
