Comprehensive Coverage and Sunroof

Have any of you ever had your sunroof in your car just break , it was basically like it exploded? I bought my wife a car literally less than two weeks ago brand new and she went on a girl's trip this past weekend. Of course all the girls want to take the new car (I told her from the beginning that she should let someone else drive but that's neither here nor there). On their way back the sunroof busted out for lack of a better term.
So I look at my options glass isn't covered under warranty obviously so the only option I have is to put in an insurance claim which is what comprehensive coverage is for or so I thought.
Progressive is now telling me that this might not be covered unless we can tell them how it happened. Obviously I wasn't there so I don't know, but my wife doesn't know either. It could have been a rock I suppose but we can't find any evidence of a rock inside the car which doesn't rule it out.
My main question is is it right for them to deny this claim just because we can't provide or prove causation???? I thought comprehensive covered this type of non-collision damage no matter what as long as it wasn't intentional.

You need an event. Tell them a rock hit it.

I get that but I can't prove it.

You can't prove it wasn't a rock either. In all seriousness, that's almost certainly what happened.

Read your "covered perils" clause/language in auto-policy. Who is your agent? They should be assisting you in looking at your policy and finding language that dictates coverages available in this type of event.

Exactly....so why come at me all fricking defensive as if you can't cover the claim?
I hate insurance.

just claim you were following a truck when a big rock fell off the truck, bounced up and hit the sunroof breaking it.
they cannot prove it didnt happen that way

A rock hit it, and if you can’t find the rock pick one up off the road, throw it on the floorboard and take a picture of it to send to your insurance company, because I guarantee you a rock hit it

If it's a Hyunda, they will replace for free. Check with the manufacturer.

yea just call it a rock and move on with life. Possible a rock hit it causing a or something that led to the eventual break. I doubt they care if you actually have a rock in the car.

Because if it explicit no reason it’s not covered.

Farmers wants you for their museum.
Allstate wants you for Mayhem.
Progressive should let you talk to TV Dad.

What's the vehicle make/model? Lots of manufactures have been having similar issues where the sunroofs just bust, especially these giant panoramic sunroofs some of these newer cars have. May be worth looking in to.

We had one break like that, no obvious explanation. The cost to replace it was less than our $500 deductible so we just paid out of pocket.
