Composite Metal Foam, or CMF, the newest advancement in armor technology

This could be interesting, would like to see more testing on it though.

Why would you want a tank to be lighter? Fuel efficiency?

It could go faster? Turn corners easier? Be lighter to transport? Have greater fuel efficiency, thus longer range of driving?

yeah and you can go more places as well as transport it more efficiently to places around the world.
We leave equipment in other countries simply because it is too heavy to bring home and reuse

Definitely a badass way to say a bullet is ineffective.

Absolutely... You know what it takes to keep gas guzzling tanks going in battle? It's a huge logistical effort.
If the tanks can sip the fuel that makes resupply much easier.

If it works as advertised, it would be great on aircraft. Most of them don't have any passive protection to speak of, truly lightweight armor could be a game-changer.

From memory, one of the German tanks in WWII was heavy enough that there were few roads that could handle it.

Because the military never has the latest and greatest. You can get almost SAPI plate equivalents between 6 and 8 lbs each
