Yes? Fuel efficiency is terrible on tanks which limits their range drastically. Shorter range means supply lines have to be closer to the front. Stretched out supply lines have fricked many an army.
FYI The Abrams gets ~.53MPG. a substantial reduction in weight would improve range and speed while not sacrificing survivability.

If this works out or something similar and you could double that MPG, that would be huge.
