Well if you want the problems fixed, then start having honest dialogue. Start aiming the blame in the right direction. Start by looking within the black community.
STOP looking for everyone else to fix these problems. It starts within.

Whether you consider it a race issue or class issue. That does not matter. It is an issue that affects a much larger percentage of blacks than whites. It is something that needs to get fixed.
So what is the answer? Pull funds from taxpayers of other school districts and pour it into poorer areas? Bus students to other districts to increase diversity? Hire teachers that fit the skin tone of the students? All of this is currently done and nothing is working. So that says that the problem isn't with the schools or "opportunities" of these young people, but with the parents and community values.

this issue really has nothing to do with race, but moreso societal class
It has to do with IQ. If you are unable to understand higher level math and logic then you will not go very far in our current academic structure. Someone of low iq of any race or class can only go so far intellectually.

Would you say that you had a role model in your upbringing. Someone who pushed you, or told you that you COULD go to college. Most of us have had at least 1 person like that.
When you can say that you have nevr had 1 good role model in your life. Your chances of suceeding are like 90% less. Some can do it, and they can do it. Unfortunately the exception is not the norm.

I am doing an internship this summer and met a few of the other interns from across the country interning with this same business.
I met a black kid that goes to Brown. I said "damn man you must be smart as hell."
He said "well it helps out a lot that I am black."
Really nice kid, no race problems at all, we hung out with him all night. He just understood the situation and told you how it was. Really refreshing.

I agree, and believe it or not. That is happening. There are plenty of people who dedicate their entire lives to causes such as these.
We are headed in the right direction, imo. It is just a slow slow slow process.

Stats also indicate that there's a lack of opportunity to not commit homicide.

Yes, those with high IQs excluding the mentally ill can generally move into or remain in higher class structures.

Predominantly white institutions. Thats what they are called.
How can HBCUs be racist. These institutions were built for us, by us. Not to be racist. But to provide us the same opportunities you already had. How in the freaking world is that racist.
I meant to say whites go to HBCUs more often than you know, I misspoke my apology.

I am a teacher and it is just mind boggling the difference in parent involvement between different races. It is not a coincidence or too small a sample size. Culturally, certain groups do not value education and often see those in education as being against their children. This does not stand for every person in said group. There are always those who are amazing parents and instill great values in their children, including a great education.
My wife teaches in a district that has a very, very wide range of students and socioeconomic statuses.
There are schools that are 80% white and 5% disadvantaged and there are schools that are 5% white and 95% disadvantaged.
She has taught at both extremes. The difference is like I said. Parents basically giving a frick.
It is very simple. Poor people tend to be poor because they are dumb. These are the same people that more than likely never valued education. Hence they are dumb and poor. They often pass that onto their kids and the cycle continues.
I could easily rank the schools performance within this district by simple looking at the free lunch %. And it would likely match up almost exactly to how they score when it comes to standardized tests and % of kids going to college. This despite the fact that they have the same curriculum and spending per student. The schools are all just as nice for the most part (some older ones are out dated, but that impacts lower, middle, and upper class areas them same).

I already stated the problem in my previos posts about black people and education. It is not an easy fix. Everything from the school district is being done I believe.
What can help most starts within the home imo. I still believe the biggest problem is the lack of fathers and male figures. I want more fathers in their child lives, and less baby daddies. I want more male teachers. And more importantly I want more coaches that care more about teaching these children life skills and how to become a man, rather than how to throw/catch/shoot a ball.

This is the point. If you want to improve your childs school as a parent, get involved with the PTA, be realistic and make positive incremental changes. Work toward these changes.
Get involved as a front door volunteer, crossing guard.......anything.
You are also making an impression on the other children going to the school. An actual honest to God positive influence that costs you nothing except time

They have chances to get what any white kid can get. A lot of the problems start at home. Single parent homes, moms working, and just no guidance from peers and they see so many bad things around where they live and try to copy it.

Y'all are stupid as frick. I went to private school and graduated with 3 black kids out of 70.
That's because every town in Mississippi that has a public school also has a private school. It's not so much about education as a way for the whites to send their kids to a school without blacks.

Oh, my apologies. how dare we desire higher education for us and our future generations. We should have just been content with not being able to have an education afforded to us.
