I can't remember solid numbers but I'll ballpark. I think it was $12-$15k but you only had to put down like $3-5k. You could basically pay the res out over something like 10 years. I don't recall the monthly minimums. Maybe $250'ish.

After Katrina, MCC was struggling and waived initiation fees or greatly reduced them, and dues, for a while, to build back up the membership. I know several people who joined during this time and still belong. NOCC would never even imagine doing such a thing.
NOCC did do such a thing after Katrina, though I can't recall if they lowered the initiation fee or just allowed it to be paid in installments.

I think it depends on age. Under 35, I think it's not an awful deal. The $600'ish monthly minimums are what really put me off. Especially as a non-golfer. I think they just completely re-did their course and some restoration fee had just been voted in.

If you have a lot of letters and signatures the initiation fee at MCC is cheaper.
They kind of need the members/money right now. They are in ok shape, but like most country clubs they struggle.

They redid the course shortly after Katrina and they are in the planning phases of completely redoing again. No uptick in dues...yet.

What are the age demographics like for each club? I assume NOCC skews older & MCC has a larger junior membership (or at least couples under age 50).

Daughter (no pics) lifeguarded at Metairie Country Club one summer. She was not permitted to sit down during breaks. Very bougie.

Metairie is a Raynor design course. That alone would want me to join it.

I've got a feeling they'll pour you whatever you want. It's going on your account. I guess I'm the trashy, cheap one.

Wasn't she sitting down most of the time in the lifeguard stand?

Man, there's probably a lot of 35 to 45-year-old people at both. I think it really does come down to old money versus new money, or maybe a location preference too.

I've really never known anyone to be a member at NOCC under 40..but Im sure there were a few under but most of the people I know now are 40's or older

I don't judge. I know oil execs who drink Dewars.
But could you at least lie to me and tell me it was Makers 46?

This should be fun. Grassman and maybe one or two other posters are the only ones that could even get onto New Orleans CC.
Even people like me can get on at Metairie.
Wrong. As wrong as this entire thread is. OP, really?
