It wasn't that bad. I worked 4 days a week back then and was usually home by 6:30. Was out of the house by 5:30 in the mornings, but that wasn't too big of a deal since I'm a morning person already. Glad not to do it anymore, but it's not too terrible.

If the job is really worth it, maybe you should plan a move to BR. I would lose my mind if I had to drive from N.O. To B.R. every day.

That schedule leaves you with 11 hours for everything else...
1 hour for driving to and from gym with decent workout, 30 minutes to prepare and eat dinner, 1 hour in the morning to get ready before you leave for work, 8 hours to sleep and 30 minutes curl up in the fetal position and cry about how you don’t have more time.

I don’t really have to commute to BR, but how’s your road head game?

God help you if you have house shite to do, a wife/kids, etc.

I had a buddy that commuted from BR to Metairie for 5 years. Must be brutal.
Flip that the opposite way and it sounds like someone that I know from my USPS days. If nothing else, it definitely made him glad to get satellite radio.
ETA: OP, by all means, post personal requests on the OT. Always makes for fun threads.

I commute from South BR to Nola. It's really not bad. Part of me actually enjoys it.
ETA: I get to work at 9am and leave at 3:45-4pm. That makes a big difference. If I had to work a full 8 hours I don't think it would be manageable.

My wife cooked most meals or we just went out.

I get it's not for everyone, but it never stopped me from doing any sort of extracurricular activities. Many, many people have commutes that are much longer time wise everyday.

I made that commute for a year. I highly recommend.

Seriously. OP is going to be miserable after a few months.

Let me know when you find out. I could fill in a couple days a month.

I was saying that was the average for those things.
Regardless, it only leaves you three hours at most for you.
Getting ready in the morning can be cut down to 20-30 min ( some people take massive dumps, shower, etc. and need that time), working out on your lunch break is a must (if you have the time)...
The most annoying thing was when there was a fricking wreck onthe way home. Could add over an hour to your commute as well.

You can ride with me tomorrow. Be outside at the road at 5am tomorrow.
Don’t call me, I’ll call you.

You guys are ridiculous. My wife works in BR and there are often times it takes her an hour to get home, in BR. The commute is only that bad if you just flat out hate driving.

Made that drive for a year when I worked at LSU. The mornings were never bad. I usually left by 5:30 and was at work by around 6:45. Left BR around 4pm and was usually home by around 5:30-5:45.
The only part that was bad about the drive was traffic in BR. Also, prepare for a 90 minute commute to turn into a possible 2.5-3 hour commute on holiday weekends

Waze has a rideshare feature (it’s active in Houston, can’t say for sure if it’s there in BR/NO) where you can put in your destination and it pairs you with someone else driving the same route who is looking to share a ride. Payment is optional.
Try it. You might meet someone willing to take turns driving on different days.
Can not guarantee payment won’t be road head, but I presume it’ll depend on how pretty your mouth is.

Waze has made this less of a problem for me, unless it's on the spillway and I'm stuck directly behind it.

I’m getting triggered just remembering how awful my old job and commute used to be.
Hell, I work way more hours now but my commute if only a half hour on average (1 hour total) and my quality of life is infinitely better.
