Is it better than the increase from the prior year?

Poli Board

quote:

During the board meeting to renew Narcisse's contract, a board member announced that she had received threats if she did not vote to renew. "You'll never work in this town again." After that comment, Gravy stepped up to the microphone and stated he sent those threatening messages.

The board, inexplicably, voted to not renew Narcisse's contract, 5-4. Altogether, the contract proposal was for nearly $500k per year, a substantial increase over his current salary when teachers, bus drivers and cafeteria workers are getting scraps. The finance officer has previously told the board that district administration is spending money they don't have.

Wonder what kind of doctor that queen be?

She isn't a "doctor" at all. She has an Ed.D which isn't granted the 'doctor' title in any professional or academic setting. It's tantamount to calling an attorney 'doctor' b/c they have their J.D. degree, which of course nobody does. See Jill Biden for another example of someone who incorrectly uses an Ed.D. to claim they are a doctor. The difference is a Ph.D. actually contributed knowledge and earned the 'doctor' title while a Ed.D just regurgitated some info.

I think the board would have been much more likely to renew his contract if he wasn't pushing for a huge salary increase.

Sito Narcisse

Was not qualified to be a superintendent in Louisiana when initially hired for the position. Classic case of EBR schools doing EBR schools type shite

Let us do the view from 10,000'.

A large percentage of students in East Baton Rouge Parish have a difficult time passing the LEAP test, even when they are taught the test.

If I remember correctly a score of 35 % is a passing score.

And Narcisse and his highly paid staff is not doing much to increase this passing rate.

I would tie his salary to LEAP average score in the parish.

budget crisis

The education system is funded better than it ever has been. The problem is it never reaches the classroom. It’s gobbled up by a bloated system full of unnecessary administrators and bureaucrats.

Ninth graders reading at second grade level is no fricking accomplishment!

I have no idea what it was before but if that 17% were reading at a kindergarten level, it is a step forward.

But I would postulate that is difficult to tie just to a current administration. The real proof of 9th-grade reading levels will be in 8 or 9 more years. A better benchmark would be how many 2nd graders are now reading at a second-grade level. If that has markedly increased after the current superintendent installed new programs, that would mean something worth noting.

BR City Parish just approved a 1 BILLION dollar budget. EBR Public Schools just approved a 544 million dollar budget. EBR Public Schools receives 100% of the tax revenue , but only has to provide services to 70-75% of the children. It may be less depending upon how Zachary and Baker are counted. Despite that , their schools are below average.

Amen. Same here. May of 2025 is our date to head back to Texas. Putting the house up for sale before that and the first thing I look at there is demographics.

Louisiana isn’t fun or even pleasant anymore. The crime has started personally affecting us. The clown show that keeps getting elected over and over and over again and no one dares challenge it is just intolerable. Insert Yogi and BooBoo. Yes, it’s them. Every single time.
