Please drop the weapon. You have five seconds to comply.

It's this simple folks, don't do anything that could be construed as wrong by the software of the drone and you don't have to worry about it mercilessly murdering you and your family.

Back the blue people and their drones or you can GTFO

People act like this is a complicated concept, if you have done nothing wrong then you have no reason to fear the murder robots.

The fear for this is as irrational as the fear of having your phone lines tapped for terrorism purposes.

We all know that only the bad guys get their phones tapped, and that if you have nothing to hide you shouldn't mind your privacy being stolen.

Broome will only allow this if they are used equally across the city instead of high crime areas.

How could an operator justify use of force when his life is clearly not in danger?

To protect others.

Do snipers feel threatened when they drop a suspect?

Yes. I was coming in to post this. It has already been done.

No. But that just opens a big can of worms, and previously only applied to hostage situations...

It's no longer the officer on the scene in fear of his life, but now it's "well I thought he was going to kill/wound/stab someone" pre-emptively.

BTW that's the same argument used in the Middle East to kill people by drone strike from kill lists.

Like I said, why not use that argument on the streets of the US? What could go wrong?

The can of worms is already open. This is just an expansion.

I'm struggling to think of a situation when an attack drone would be useful.

Known drug dealer is out on the streets and is believed to be armed and dangerous, but not convicted of anything.

Why not just kill him rather than risk an LEO life trying to arrest him and bring him to trial? You'd be saving countless future lives by doing so, and putting no LEO in danger. There's nothing to lose here...

If they decide to kill him, just shoot him from a distance.

This seems like a "because we can" type of thing.

Real world application of an attack drone would be very limited within the borders of the USA.

I'd agree it's much easier to do so with a drone than setting up a long distance shot of a suspect that's not barricaded in a location. Drones can follow suspects for hours without being detected.

They're gonna use the Dallas cop shooter situation as their holiest example.

Pretty sure that the Drone refers to weaponized UAVs. Without weapons, they are just UAVs.

was stated in the OP. They are being up front about it being used in very few situations.

Yes, the Dallas situation is a perfect example of when this would be useful. Why put a father/brother/son's life at risk...when you don't have to???

Is it possible to believe that using armed drones would actually result in the police having more patience in a high risk situation? Since their life is not in danger, maybe they wait it out a little longer to see what happens instead of pulling the trigger quickly just to make sure the bad guy doesn't get them first?

I'm perfectly fine with the drone concept. Stay out of trouble and you will be fine.

This. It's much easier to kill someone than put them on trial and have a jury possibly acquit them.

Who wants possible criminals walking freely around their community every day, when they can be taken out before they commit any further crimes.

Can I sign up to be the one who decides these sorts of things?
