Just think of all the lives that are saved by pot heads not having to purchase through a black market. Buying pot from a dealer is like playing Russian roulette.

You don't allow your employees to drink alcohol do you? Same thing.

Why would they need to spend anything on substance abuse? Pot, we are told, is not addictive and not a gateway drug. We are assured by the pro pot crowd it is harmless..

It's probably what they had to sell to the ignorant dipshites who were against it to help it get passed.

Despite that stupid arse comment, the monies for rehab are going to tremendously help the state deal with heroin, pill, meth, and alcohol addictions, moreso than weed. It is not "weed rehab" they are increasing.

well i dont believe the very first "drug" you use is the only thing that can be considered a gateway drug.

Any reason you put drug in parentheses? Comes across as if you don't consider alcohol a drug. Anyway the only thing about marijuana that makes it a gateway to other drug use is it's legal status. When you have to go the black market route to procure marijuana you come across other black market drugs.

Then people will start growing their own which will further cut in the market

Thought in CO you can grow up to 3 plants at a time legally? That's more personal consumption though.

But people undercutting dispensaries...can't really comment on that because I don't know their pricing.

As a habitual weed smoker, I'd be intrigued with growing my own stuff...but just like beer, I'd rather drive down the street. I'd probably even pay a little more and tell myself it's a convenience fee.

So, they plan to spend $99M on mitigation efforts for abuse, and they estimate to rake in $98M in tax revenue from the sale of recreational pot. It's a wash? Or am I being obtuse?

Substance abuse would presumably address substances that are actually dangerously abused, like opiates etc.

Still smarter than stupid La who would rather lock all those people up.

I think 100 million may be a little inflated. In Oakland, which has the most liberal laws of any metropolitan area in Ca, the revenue is just under 3 million. Our dispensaries are knocking on the door of 50 million in sales. Maybe they will hit 100 million but I think a better spin on it would be to accentuate the savings from legalization eg. prison time, police resources, probation etc. I would agree that as other states legalize, Colorado's revenue stream could come to a trickle.

The Colorado pot tax plan doesn't include an additional 15 percent pot excise tax, of which $40 million a year already is designated for school construction. The governor projected the full $40 million to be reached next year.

That $98 million only represents 12.9% out of of the total taxes.

I would like to hear some figures on how much less they're spending trying to catch these RUTHLESS pot dealers
That's the other angle the bible-thumping slapdicks either don't see or want to talk about - the money saved prosecuting for possession and dealing.

But as another poster said, I worry that the democrats in CO will just use the revenue to fund additional wasteful programs.

Pretty sure not many companies have policies about drinking on personal time while a bunch of companies have policies about not smoking weed. All the people asking this question are being obtuse.

I also am curious about HR policies evolving.

This can answer all your questions on pricing

LINK

It is also hilarious to see the people that are frequenting all the dispensaries now. I'm talking business people, grandmas, parents and kids over 21 of course and deadbeat stoners.

My company has adopted the swab test in CO due to the new law. Urinalysis is still the standard for the rest of the company.
