Maybe you and I differ, but when the time comes I don't want to remember any of it.

It’s just a benzo, you’re in twilight but not totally out... take the drugs.

Are you an addict? Is that the concern?

Please explain to me the positives of being awake while someone is shoving a camera up your arse?

Nurse anesthetist here. I only know of one person in my career who ever made it without anesthesia. He was actually an endoscopist himself. Some people try and as soon as they insufflate the intestines they tap out. You should be just getting propofol and no narcotics. Quick on and quick off. We avoid narcs now bc they slow recovery and lengthen time in recovery.

I’ve had one. No way in hell do I want to be awake for that procedure. It would be awkward.

They asked me, "how are you this morning?"

I told them, "I haven't eaten in 36 hours. I have spent the last 18 hours on the toilet. I am in a room full of strangers who plan on putting me to sleep and sticking something up my arse. I'm great. How about y'all?"

They all laughed and said, "at least you're honest."

Side Note: The propofol burns like battery acid going in. Michael Jackson was tougher than me. He loved the stuff.

Take the drugs. If your doctor wakes you up to tell you have colon cancer like mine did during my first colonoscopy, you’ll wake up and sober up real quick. Trust me.

It’s crazy how it burns some but not others. When it does, pts freak the frick out for 4-5 secs then they out. We put lidocaine in it to help but it’s an old wives tale honestly.

Had one done in Korea, no anesthesia. Watched it on a monitor. Surprisingly little discomfort. Prep was 1000x worse. Apparently I’m the exception.

Ask for the Jackson Juice (propofol).

Just had one in June and it wore off fast so I could go back to normal activities without being groggy.
