Didn't think it was so terrible, maybe because I was expecting it to be so bad.
This is my experience. Wasn’t pleasant but wasn’t as expected, but there are multiple different types so maybe it varies by what was prescribed

This is what I took both times.

(4) Dulcolax laxative tablets
(1) 8.3oz bottle of Miralax,
(2) 32oz bottles of Gatorade, Crystal Light, or Powerade (NO RED or PURPLE).

Suprep if you have to drink it these days. It isn't great but drinking 2 decent glasses is not a problem. I never had the pills. Colyte back in the day was terrible. Tasted like sea water and the flavors were just flavored sea water. The preps are fine these days.

I'm a 12 year cancer survivor....so I am a very frequent flyer with the scopes. I've had so many the mere thought of the prep makes me shiver.

I've tried everything...the Mag-Citrate, Go-lightly, Pills...the point is...none of them are ideal. Probably the best for me, despite the shiver with every sip, is 2 - 3 bottle of Mag-Citrate. With everything else...the sheer volume of water you must drink with the prep...that is what puts me over the edge and I usually end up vomiting before I am done. Sip, gulp...doesn't matter. Near the end...I end up throwing up...the water and the most recent pill or liquid prep ingested with it.

We have the technology....there MUST be a better way. Thankfully...I'm stretched out to once every 3 years now...so I've got 2 years to go before I have to think about it again.

I had my first one a couple of years ago, I must be the only person that had a somewhat of a non-issue experience with it, it was no big deal at all

I had to do double prep last time. 2 days out, I drank a gallon of Golytely and the day and night before, SuPrep. Golytely is tough...mix in Crystal light, get it cold and chug, don't sip. SuPrep is easier...get it cold and chug.

Lucky me, since colon cancer runs in the family, I have to go every 5 years.

Same here, and my saint of a wife (who had already gone through this before) prepped the guest bathroom with baby wipes, Boudreaux's Butt Paste and a tv tray with my laptop on it.

I sit there and take a chug of the stuff (cold) and then just water (cold) to wash it down. Alternating that way makes it go down easier.

It's not that bad at all. Just mix it with Gatorade or Crystal Light. Trust me, I drank nastier stuff while in college. Don't be a puss, hold your breath and drink it down.

You drink it before the colonoscopy not after.

Put it in the fridge and get it good and cold.

This is the way.

Downside is, you keep it down, it works its magic, and you crap like a Time Machine revealing what you ate for breakfast in third grade.

I have what may be the funniest colonoscopy story ever...true story. My wife had one done in New Mexico while we lived there and when she came too in recovery, she was complaining that one of her eyes was hurting. They told me it was just the anesthesia but as it wore off her discomfort became very obvious....something was amiss with her left eye....it looked like someone had poked it with a stick. She was in severe pain. When the doctor came around I told him her eye was hurting. He told us it was unrelated to the procedure. I told him that very well may be the case but something was wrong and he said "we did not do anything which could possibly impact her eye" to which I responded "Hell, for all I know y'all went too deep or from the wrong end.....". He nearly fell out laughing....my wife was horrified but the doctor was about at the point of knee slapping....called in nurses and other doctors and told them what I had said...they all found it amusing, to the point that I was compelled to remind them that no matter my comedic timing my wife was in considerable discomfort and if one of them would be so kind as to look at her eye to see what was up we would appreciate it. One of them did just that and lo and behold her cornea was scratched....when he announced this to the crowd standing around I said "Hell y'all did go too deep..." which of course brought down the house again....for everyone except my wife who was in no mood for comedy at the time (and still isnt't when it comes to this story). They called in an eye surgeon and what they surmised was that when they put her under they did not tape her eyes closed. During the procedure the injured one opened slightly and dried out and when she blinked the first time she scratched her cornea. I told him I was glad to hear they hadn't gone too deep or from the wrong end....to which he said "oh no sir....we would never do such a thing....." which was funnier than anything I said and broke up the entire room....with the exception of course of my wife who failed to see anything funny in the situation.....
