Did one 4 years ago and then one early last month. Close enough to remember last time to try something different. It’s an awful experience (prep).

The numbers seem to indicate that colonoscopy's are not the best SCREENING test, and there is more research that points to the polyps being removed is actually unnecessary. There are some new lab methods that can better screen for colon cancers and other cancers in general but getting approval is going to be SLOW. Hopefully we start trials soon and I will just have them run my blood, it is detecting pancreatic and colon cancers 5X better than the current methods we are using. Going from 15-20% detection to 90+ is a game changer.
You will never have the guy that makes most of his money performing colonoscopy's to not recommend them... GP's don't know enough. New lab methods are coming... between FDA approval and doctors not trusting hard data it might be decades before recommendations change though.

They were checking a diverticulitis issue, so that wasn’t an option.

I don't get it. Drinking that stuff was no big deal at all to me.

Reading this as I sit on the toilet shitting my brains out in preparation for the colonoscopy at 10:30 tomorrow. Didn’t think the drink was that bad to be honest. Tasted like a bad energy drink.

After the last swallow bite a lemon. Cuts the taste instantly

Two tablespoons of Epsom salts in 9 ozs water will do it

The last time I had one I chilled the drink, chugged it, and then had some warm/hot broth as a chaser. It cut the taste significantly.

Take a big glug of that nasty shite and follow it up with a similar size gulp of apple juice. As to the diet day, beef or chicken broth.

Pretty sure that only detects cancer that exists. The whole point of a colonoscopy is to 1) find polyps, 2) remove them, and 3) confirm that none are precancerous. The poop box, as far as I know, does none of those things.
Had my first colonoscopy this year...being hungry and having to get up early to finish prep were the worst parts. The drink tasted like old school gatorade. It was fine. I just put my next glass in the freezer immediately after finishing the previous.

Miralax and lemon lime Gatorade was tolerable. Will push for the pills next time.

Well I’ve had to flush my system like 12 times and I found the key to it. About three days before I have to start prepping I take a couple exlax. I’m to the point I only have to drink one of the bottles of prep and I’m cleaned out way before any procedure I’m getting.

You insurance determines the prep you get. Your doctor could care less. When the scheduler calls to screen you, they look at your insurance and check the box with whatever one your insurance approves.
Now your doctor could specifically order one over the other and get preauthorization for it. But your insurance company will want an explanation. For example, previous you completed X prep and were still dirty. Then they can get clearance for the other prep.

Should have taken the pills.

Have had 3 colonoscopies.
High risk...Cancerous polyps first time.
Honestly just man up and drink as fast as you can.
Wife couldn't do it and ended up doing the mail.
