Standing a 4hr Topside watch (submarine pier side guard duty) in Groton, Ct. -4 with a -14 windchill. And it was very windy

Was back in 1989 i think, wind chill was -40
I was trying to put a new battery in my car, it was cold as frick, and one of my buddies hit the horn, freaking me the frick out, and once i got it fixed, i put the window locks on and put every window down and froze the frick out of them.

Tried to drive to a buddy's party up in Todd, NC during a blizzard. Truck stopped going up the road and skidded in to a guardrail. Had to get out and shovel out some snow so I could back out and go back down the mountain. Windchill was about -35, I think the actual temperature was about -20.
There's been a few times I've gone skiing in CO in Telluride and Steamboat where the temperatures have been comparable, probably -15 to -25 in the wee hours of the morning. Not nearly as cold as that damned Carolina mountain, though.

About -35, with a -55 chill factor.
Bismarck ND, somewhere around Christmas of '90 or New Years of '91. It was pretty miserable.

-31* in Sioux Falls SD in January 1984.
I think the windchill was about 20 degrees colder.
I will never ever ever go back there.
Absolutely unbearable. The heater in the truck probably only raised the temperature to about zero.
To hell with that.

That is insane. At that temp, what is the longest you can have your skin exposed? It can't be very long right?

Its 40 degrees in the Northern panhandle right now. It sucks. Rather have snow

Many years ago I hunted in Northern Alberta and Saskatchewan and it would get to -55 to - 65. Would be in blind all day. Guys had their firing pins freeze, couldn’t fire guns at giant Whitetail. Tried opening my blind one morning, couldn’t do it cause my hands froze in seconds, guide had left, and was in dire situation. I had to put my hands down in my Crotch to warm them up, just to turn a latch 90 degrees to open the stand door. Fond memories...

I had a rental car that I let run for 8 hours. The heater never did warm up. I quickly learned the hotel had a casino with free beer while gambling. They also had 2 restaurants and a café.
There was no reason to leave.

I was in Omaha, NE one Feb for work and it was -21. The high the first day was zero
When I was a kid, my father was stationed at Offutt. I walked to elementary school multiple times in sub-zero temps, at least a couple times sub -10. Omaha is nasty cold. nasty.
