He said he was leaving out from a well site and one crossed the location road in front of him. I’ve read there aren’t supposed to be any in Louisiana but I’ve heard from a handful of people that have claimed to see one. I’ve seen a tan panther or cougar about 13 years ago but never seen a black one. Anyone else ever witnessed a black panther in Louisiana?

the Quiet Killers.. they thought cougars were no longer in Arkansas until they found one a couple years ago. They probably are in La, though maybe not in great numbers.. Great predatory instincts. You don't see them, they see us

They are all over North Baton Ruudge

ETA: It was probably a cougar, which LA most certainly has.

The only big cat that has the DNA to be able to have black pigment is the Jaguar.

There are black jaguars.

People used to (and still do) smuggle them as pets. Then they get released. Then you have black panther sightings.

Trashy people down the road from my parent's place in Georgia used to have one. I seent it. They also had lynx's. Weirdo people.

quote:

Black panther, colloquial term used to refer to large felines classified in the genus Panthera that are characterized by a coat of black fur or large concentrations of black spots set against a dark background. The term black panther is most frequently applied to black-coated leopards (Panthera pardus) of Africa and Asia and jaguars (P. onca) of Central and South America; black-furred variants of these species are also called black leopards and black jaguars, respectively. In addition, the term is sometimes used to describe dark-coloured bobcats, lynx, jaguarundis, tigers, and pumas (cougars), even though reports of black-coloured representatives of some species, such as the puma, have not been confirmed.

semantics..Britannica accepts the term

I seriously think the admins should create a dancing emoji like but with the fat panther. It would be the most popular emoji on this board.
