I’d rather people have the knowledge if they are infected so they can make sure to stay away from my elderly family members and pregnant wife.

No, they do the exact opposite. They constantly test.

But they also flattened their curves a while ago, so any new case is immediately taken seriously. People who test positive are backtraced in terms of who they came in contact with. Those people are tested. And the disease is isolated that way so that restaurants, businesses, and schools can function normally.

We just gave up.

Are we low on tests? Why not test if we have the capability?

We have tons of tests we just waste them testing the same people over and over again to jack the numbers up instead of being sincere with our testing methods

The exact opposite. People who have symptoms don’t need drive through tests. They should assume they have it when it comes to quarantining and self-care. And then if it gets bad enough they can go to the hospital and get taken care of there. Same for at risk people.

The casual drive through tests should be reserved for non at risk people who know they’ve been exposed but aren’t showing symptoms. Bc if not they’re forced to choose between isolating for potentially no good reason for two weeks, which is annoying to the person and a drain on the economy, or going about their lives and potentially spreading it as an asymptomatic person.

In fact one of our biggest issues with curbing the spread is we prioritize obvious symptomatic and at risk patients for testing. They don’t need to be tested. Especially in the summer with no flu or strep. They clearly have it

If your elderly family members and pregnant wife are following proper statist social distancing measures there is no reason to worry.

Are you implying they are disobeying and would be close to people that could have it?

if you are routinely around high risk individuals and you were around someone that tested positive, you should absolutely get tested

Covid tests should be reserved for moderate to severe symptomatic cases. Sustained high fever, uncontrollable cough, trouble breathing, etc. I’m pretty sure other countries are already doing this.

There is no vaccine or cure, so the hospital can only treat symptoms. So if your symptoms aren’t severe, stop wasting people’s time.

Yeah but how are we going to get Biden elected downplaying this virus?

I don't like the idea of media outlets pushing for every Tom and hairy dick around to go get tested. Putting yourself around other people who are sick or think they are sick and around healthcare workers who have 100% been around sick people seems counterintuitive.

If I feel ill or have been in close contact with someone who does test positive, I will get tested. Otherwise, quit hassling me to go get tested.
