I went to Chic Fil A for lunch today, and it didn't go so well. I really went just for a medium black coffee, but when I saw that the line in the drive thru was pretty long I figured I'd order a meal with a coffee so I didn't come off as the prick who just waited in a long arse line for a coffee. For whatever reason I like their coffee over Starbucks, McDs, DS, etc. Typically when I ask for coffee there in the mid afternoon they have to brew another pot, and that takes 5 minutes so I was prepared to wait. As I mentioned before, the line in the drive thru was long enough so the coffee should be ready by the time I get to the window. The guy who takes my order informs me that it'll be 5 minutes for the new coffee pot to be ready, so I looked at the time when I placed my order and sure enough it took 5 minutes to get to the window and pay. The first thing th guy says is, "You had the coffee right?", I say yes, and he says, "We're sorry we just now started brewing a new pot...it'll be five more minutes. You can pull up to the side and wait for someone to bring your coffee and meal." I respond in a frustrated manner, "No, I'll have a sweet tea instead." He then asks if I want the receipt, to which I reply no. He extends the receipt out to me after handing me back my card, and I just look at him till he realizes what I had said 2 seconds ago. This guy had to be high school age or maybe even college, and I looked at the other workers surrounding him who were all either high school age or maybe college as well. Is this one of the reasons why older generations despise the youth? Or is this an example of why the minimum wage is perfect for these types of workers because they aren't competent enough to earn a "living wage". Anyways, that's my lengthy, yet cool story from today that really every single one of you who read it would have been better off banging their head against the wall instead. I'm 24 btw.
