Cleveland police officers had been preparing to hold a large American flag on the field while the national anthem was played before the Browns’ first regular-season game. Now they won’t, because some Browns kneeled during the anthem before preseason games.

Cleveland Police Patrolmen’s Association President Steve Loomis told cleveland.com that officers decided not to support the Browns because of both the players’ actions and the team’s response.

“When management allows you to do those things, then that’s on them,” Loomis said. “It’s hypocritical of the Browns management and ownership to want to have an armed forces first-responder day, and have us involved in it when they allow their players to take a knee during the national anthem. That’s the very representation of what we stand for. That’s why we aren’t going to.”

The Browns issued a statement saying they support both the anthem and the right of individuals to choose not to stand for the anthem.

Why do people think football players are overpaid? The owners have a right to pay them less if they don't think the players are worth what they offer.

Because they are nothing more than entertainers now, I think it's a crying shame that they make (up to) several million dollars a year while the scientist trying to cure cancer or some other disease will only make $1-200K (if that).

I don't mind these idiots kneeling or whatever, but when your primary job is to win football games and you're so bad doing that, you should prbabaly forgo this "protesting" and concentrate on doing your job

Good on them. They should stop offering stadium security as well.

And the average football player will be way out of the league at 35 while the scientist will still have 35 or 40 years of work left.

I never understand why people look at sports like they are regular jobs.

And they'd have been set for life if they managed money properly.

What a triggered little bitch. Ever wonder why police are scared bitches who shoot unarmed citizens? See above as reason why.

1. I'd imagine the average scientist makes more than the average player in their scientist and football careers.

2. Who do you think should receive the billions of revenue dollars. If not the players?

There's no crying shame, this is simple economics.
