Cleaning fees when you book a AirBnB/VRBO/etc. rental

I actively look for the lowest cleaning fee option when I’m researching places to stay. It seems like it’s just a cash grab by the owner. I always clean up after myself, make beds back, clean dishes, etc. whenever I stay somewhere so what’s the point? Does anyone just say screw it and leave the place a mess because cleaning fees are involved?

Make the bed back? Do u think just because you make the bed back they aren’t going to pull them all back off and was them?

You're right that the cleaning fees are often excessive, but no, I wouldn't leave the place a mess because we're pretty clean people. However, I wouldn't worry about making sure the place is exactly how we found it (we usually do) if they're charging a huge cleaning fee.

I have a Vrbo in Destin. Most all owners pass the fee to the renter without marking it up. The towels and sheets are sent to Commerial cleaners to be sanitized. Would you trust the last renter to have cleaned the place? I would hope not.

No jackass, but I’m just building a story here of how I leave that place exactly like I left it. Hell sometimes I’ll throw the sheets and stuff in the washer for them before I leave. Especially if... you know.

I understand y’all need to charge a cleaning fee but it doesnt need to be 300-500 bucks.

I’ve negotiated cleaning fees down before by promising the clean the place after. It just depends if the owners have the cleaning contracted out or are doing it themselves

They don’t expect you to make the bed. They expect you to pay a fee so they can have someone strip the beds and clean the linens. You get this, right?

Some of you are worse than my wife. Nitpicking one damn thing out of what I say and harping on it and taking it out of context. I come here to get away from my wife. Forget about the damn making beds back thing and look at the bigger picture
