My assumption is that everything will get so infected with it that AI detection will be nearly useless for most purposes, and soon.
I can only speak to legal, but "give me a stock rep for corporate authority" will spit out a rote passage that AI probably took from 10,000 contracts it reviewed. It's at best minimally changed from the form language floating around every region/firm/etc. Maybe my stock agreements don't have the exact word choice, but eventually someone's will get into one of them (either from me using AI or someone else using it and us riding with it) and then it perpetuates itself, no?

Also, I don’t understand why people against AI would be bothered by this. To me, it’s primarily people who have outsourced everything they write to AI that should be quaking in their boots
Damnit, will have to start writing my own emails again

lol, people will have a way to remove this watermark within a week of rollout
Wonder if they will use AI to help them write the code to create the product that will help them remove the watermark

I'm looking forward to the length of emails I receive being reduced by 80%. I miss the good old days of borderline illiterate people having to write their own shite, so they kept it short

. They could have just, you know, not told you
Because if they tell you all about the front door there's no need to look for the trap door under the den carpet.

This is a really good thing if they allow universities and high schools to see the watermark when students use AI.

It will be just the opposite. As already stated, you can’t copyright AI created work.
Practically all original thought has already been scraped from the web. This will allow Claude to skip AI generated content it already created and focus on stealing whatever original thought is left. It will probably also be able to filter competitors AI generated information to reverse engineer it.
This. It's a way for them to start filtering real content from AI, but for their benefit, not ours.
