Which would be more beneficial for me to obtain? I'm graduating in December with 150 hours so I will qualify for CPA certification. Currently have an internship in industry accounting and looking to stay in industry. Should I try to get the CIA certification or CPA certification? Or both?
TIA

CPA, and it isn't close. The CIA will help but there is no accounting job in America that isn't looking first a foremost for a CPA.

How can someone take 150 credit hours and not know the answer to his own question? Good grief.

CPA is much more respected in the financial world and will give you options and mobility in the future. CIA is only applicable if you’re doing internal audit work. Otherwise, it’s just something decent to put on a resume.
I’m a CPA and CFE who used to work in public accounting but made the move to industry. I did the CIA program at LSU but didn’t get the certification because it’s not as valuable as the CPA.

CPA. If your employer offers incentives for additional certs, CFE.
If you want to play alphabet soup, add CIA and CISA

The CPA is your base. It's respected worldwide and will always be a calling card and something you can use.
After you get your CPA, then consider additional certifications as desired. Maybe for you, a CIA makes sense.
But get your CPA first.

If you want to be manager level or above at my office, gotta have a CPA.
CIA is something many people have in addition.

When you were in high school did you even know what the CIA certification is? Do your parents know what the CIA certification is? Get the CPA. Everyone knows what it is. If you want to get the CIA or CISA after, go for it. CPA is what will make a difference for you.

I clicked on this because I thought you were asking if you should become a CIA agent or an accountant. I was going to say, why not both? Be a CPA for the CIA!
Obviously,I have no fricking clue what a CIA is.
Looks like CPA is the way to go according to the accountants of this board.....
Edit: Man, buncha stiffs in this crowd. Jeez

CPA? How good are you at swinging a sign in a statue of liberty costume?

All other certifications are fluff.

To add to what others have said, CPA is the way to go first. If you want to make a career in Internal Auditing, then CIA should follow after the CPA.
Also, you should keep in mind that if you stay in industry; there is a really good chance that the person that does the initial review of your resume will have no idea what the CIA stands for. I have run across a lot of good companies that have an Admin Assistant equivalent as the initial gatekeeper when reviewing resumes for job postings.
