I injured my back severely, two years ago, I can barely stand anymore, but I don't want to take opiates, is there anything you all can suggest?
TIA

Back pain is a crippler. Get in yoga, go to a great acupuncture specialist and physical therapist. be proactive in your care. Drs. PRACTICE medicine. want to be a guinea pig?
IF YOU TAKE OPIATES YOU WILL GET HOOKED AND ULTIMATELY THAT WILL END YOUR LIFE AS YOU ONCE KNEW IT!!! Get help NOW.
If worse comes to worse find the best non invasive surgeon. Backs can be fixed today. 20-30 years ago it was hit and miss.

Have you tried epidural steroid injections? They work good for me. I still hurt but I’m functional and the pain is bearable except in acute situations.

Neurotin. It’s a nerve pain medicine. Non-narcotic. Just started and it is working great.
Takes care of back, neck and some neuritis in shoulder.

Physical therapy. Can work wonders.

Lose weight if you are overweight.

Even after all that there will be times you can hardly stand and you just gonna have to be as tough as you can.

Good Luck and hope you get some relief.

I've lost the weight, that is what the doc told would fix me, it didn't, you can bet I'll try the next thing though

My neighbor had a minimally invasive procedure done on his lower back the other day.

The surgeon using a scope put some vertebrae separators between the vertebrae’s. Kind of like some little scissor jacks. It’s so good so far.

Ask the Doc about some injections. When they work you get off the table almost pain free.

What did you do to your back ? Is the pain going down your leg through your buttock and to you foot ?

The pain is through my lower back and into my thighs, I injured it on a boat. The minimal invasive surgery just scared me sometimes

I hear CBD and THC edibles can help. I despise opiates. Absolute poison. I eat IBprofen and paracetamol like candy. It dulls it, a bit, sometimes.

But the thing I learned is that growing older is going to hurt. I see why my father was grumpy. My back aches. My feet hurt. I pay for all the punishments I’ve inflicted upon this vessel.

But like black coffee I learned to savor the bitterness. I accept it, try to find some level of comfort and treasure the fact that I am still on this side of the daisies.

Try acupuncture, chiropractors, whatever. But the opiates are a poison pill. They don’t make you not hurt. They make you not care about anything but getting more.

The problem is, I'm still young. I tried CBD, I can't say it helped, and I can't say it hurt. I won't cherish the pain because I'm too young to feel this old, I suppose I should just keep going in for my cortisone shot

I’ve had three ruptured in my back for thirty five years. No knife yet.

Three ruptured in neck. One fusion b/c I had a great risk of paralysis without it.

I’ve had pain for a long time and it’s a bitch.

I put the “ Don’t mean nothing.Drive on motherfricker.” attitude in play quite often.

So you just soldier on, that seems like the safest option at this point, honestly.

Neurontin can help but has drawbacks.

It's non-narcotic but it can put you on your arse just like narcotic stuff.

I'd look at some THC stuff instead of CBD if you can.

If you were on a commercial boat you need to go see my younger brother and make the cash register ring. The Jones Act may be in your favor.

Look, I realize how it feels, empathetically. I’ve been there. It will get better, you will learn to deal. Cortisone shots help.

Doctors won’t like me saying this but alcohol helps too.

A few margaritas and I’m dancing like i did 10 years ago.

Well, 5 years ago at least. I forget, but I pay for it the next week.

Not gonna sugar coat it, you’ll feel the unfortunate paths of time harder. But, For me, it helps to think that there were times before I didn’t get the chance to grow old. To live long. To feel the pain.

So in that I find value
