Did not read the whole thread.

My SO suffers from chronic pain after a surgery to remove a brain tumor 4.5 years ago.

The most beneficial thing for her has been the combination of THC and CBD oil. She also has tried Kratom and while it’s not a regular thing she uses, we are trying to become more familiar with it. It has been a game changer for people with chronic pain as well as those who want to avoid / are recovering from opiates. Reddit has a sub for it

The combo of CBD / thc is game changer. Solo they are lovely, but together they do great things. I suggest when you get a CBD it still contain the small amount of THC legally allowed (less than 3%) if thc isn’t available to you.

Best of luck to you OP. Chronic pain fricking sucks.

eta you can also look into very low intense (nucca) chiropractor in your area. My SO also sees a cranial sacral doctor. Both are absolute lifesavers in her healing journey. Acupuncture.

Eat healthy, physical therapy. Ibuprofen, sometimes. I have disc protrusions on my neck and lumbar area. It's been tough, but I try to stay positive. The future scares me very much.

If you live in a kratom legal state, many people have found it can really help, start out with a bottle of the vivazen or similiar brands. If that helps you can order the powder and make it into kratom tea much cheaper.

And hope that you aren’t one of the unlucky ones who experience permanent psychosis from kratom.

You need to see a neurosurgeon. There are several types of surgeries available. An MRI will go a long way to determining which surgery you need. If it's a ruptured disc, a MLD surgery may solve your problem The disc is swollen and pressing on nerves, they remove some of the damaged disc, in order for the swelling to go down which relieves pressure and pain. The second surgery is to remove the cartilage disc entirely, and they place spacers between the vertebrae. Another surgery is a spinal fusion. Using hardware composed of rods, plates, and screws then again place spacers in place of the disc. The fusion keeps the area from collapsing, and shifting.
If one has a vertebra body fracture and it's collapsing, then again spinal fusion is the surgery needed.

The only way to determine the best surgery to repair your injury is by way of an MRI, and CT. The longer you wait the more permanent the damage that may occur to the nerve endings, and you may still have some pain even after surgery. Some neurosurgeons even implant an electrical stimulus device to help override the pain. Again see a neurosurgeon, not some orthopedic doctor that does back surgery. The spinal nerves are nothing to play with, and paralysis is always a possibility. If you don't have health insurance, then look into being referred to one of the hospitals that has a contract with the state to provide care to those uninsured. OLOL and LSU Shreveport come to mind. Good luck.

Don’t know if it’s been mentioned yet but try Pilates

The science is mixed but it works really well for some people. A lot of back pain stems from a weak core, and Pilates will change that quickly. I know some older men who swear by it. Also doesn’t hurt that the ratio in the classes are very favorable

Yeah there is data saying Kratom can have some bad bad side effects... Not enough studies on it. Seems like a lot of potential upside. But ganja is the way to go for herbals. Might need to try a few different strains but they work. They end migraines for me.

CBD is snake oil by itself. Need the entire flower for synergy. It is like Tylenol 3 which can be good for something like the flu... There is 2 substances in it which is weird but one helps more with pain and another for inflammation and fever.
