Since we don’t have a single thread for all of these like we did at thanksgiving….
Every year for decades the wife makes gumbo for Christmas. It’s fricking awesome, she learned from her Mom. I’m a LA transplant, but have had enough varieties to honestly say hers is one of the best. Her mom and stepdad came in for Christmas this year, and rather than enjoying our traditional Christmas meal, they chose to rewarm leftovers from their lunch yesterday. Wife is pissed, I’m disappointed, and we still have an evening of opening presents ahead of us. Nothing to do but grab another beer I guess lol….. should we invite them back next year?

The only drama we had was one of my nephews has a temperamental stomach. He ate too much too fast and had a case of the raging shits.

I tend to minimize Christmas as an eating holiday, but with some traditional things. For example from now on I/we cook duck on Christmas Eve.

Like Christmas Eve meal leftovers? Or the Canes they got on the drive in leftovers?

A lot of people eat gumbo for Christmas

More leftover gumbo and more room in the fridge for beer. I hope it doesn’t ruin your wife’s night though. They won’t be around forever so try to take it in stride.

Will do, definitely more room in the fridge lol

I preface saying that I eat take out Chinese food every Christmas BUT who the frick cares what others eat
If the in laws want left overs, then let them eat leftovers. Who cares

My oldest had some issues today. I ran some interference for him because his cousins can be brutal with the dumb arse jokes, as they should be.

Who eats gumbo for Christmas???
It’s a Christmas staple on both my wife’s and my side of the family.
We do traditional thanksgiving dinner but Christmas is usually gumbo or lasagna.

Same. My grandmother will make stuff to have ham sandwiches and sides but so many of us are on the run these days on Christmas it just makes sense to put out a spread and to grab something on the way in/out.
Growing up we always did standing rib roast on Christmas Eve instead.

This isn't normal? I had gumbo today along with brisket and corn & shrimp soup.

Gumbo is 20x better than whatever shitty Skyline Chili concoction you losers came up with for Christmas this year.

I'd rather have Taco Bell than Skyline Chili. Didn't realize that was a Christmas dish though.
