They wanted $6000 to install new converters on my tundra after they were stolen.

That's pretty typical of most shops. Just get a couple ramps and do it yourself. That is a fairly easy driveway project.

Still waiting to see in detail what the issue is...

Also to the other guy trying to bring in his own part and complaining about the price, it is a business. If it does not make a profit and does stuff for free, then it's called government automotive. I'm not trying to come across as an arse, just don't expect a business to do something cheap just to save you cash.

I expect a shop to be able to buy car parts below retail and still mark it up to less than I can acquire it for.

Not buy it at the price I can get and further mark it up. No thanks.

You either work there or somewhere just like it.

i'm curious of the business you work with that doesn't have any markups.

ETA: not defending CB or any other auto shops. Just a weird thing to go after.

I am in the business and was genuinely going to help you sort out what the issue was and give you advice if you were getting screwed over or not. Good luck with whatever your problem is. I can tell your on a bitching mission so I'm out.

It's the name of a used car lot in Kenner that's pretty large.

I've already gotten my car back. It's done, but a lot of the posts in this thread seem to back up everything I've said, as does the complete lack of posts giving them good reviews.

What's the value of your time? Is a small increase worth having to track it down, go get it during your off time, pay for it, and bring it back to them?

That's why there is a markup. They have to track it down, buy it, store ir, keep an inventory, etc.

It would be silly to not have a markup.

"If you want to get assraped over car repairs, by all means, go to these a-holes. They're still calling me up and tacking on additional charges for my car they've had for a week now..

I didn't realize it was a national chain. I just brought my car there because it's close to my house. Big mistake."

... 100% right. These guys over-charge everybody. Once they repair something, they say that they have to "test" just about every other system in the car, just to make sure.

The ones I’ve dealt with in the OKC area are phenomenal, but being a national franchise I am perfectly willing to believe there are some shitty locations elsewhere.

I've never considered taking my car there, but I've pondered it as a franchise opportunity. Kind of says it all, I guess.
