Funny, Mingo's dumb arse specifically said that this wouldn't happen.

I never said such a thing.

You're in every one of these pushing for a raise. Sorry little guy, $15 is still on the horizon though.

Yes, you clearly have stated that the push to $15 wouldn't affect pricing.

Of course, do you not want one?

Again, where the crime is happening might as well be in another state. Any regular Joe Schmo would never, ever willingly be in those areas. It would be the equivalent of going to Los Angeles just to hang out in skid row

Absolutely. Even if hes a commie, he's hoping to live in the farmers house, rise off of 4 hooves and be the vanguard which are promoted to high office.

Entry level jobs should not be living wages. If you start out making a living wage, where is the incentive to work hard and move up? I am glad I was pouring concrete for $5 an hour in the hot Mississippi summers. It made me want to work hard in school on my engineering degree. It also taught me the value of a dollar.

I can’t wait until people claim eating out and even fast food is a privilege issue because only the wealthy can afford it.

Most comment sections I've read below this story on Facebook and Instagram are saying "If you can't afford to eat out, just cook at home".

I can't wait to hear their take when grocery stores do the same thing. "Just raise and slaughter your own chickens"

Why not? Having poor people is a good thing? Do you like crime?

To make more and afford more luxuries, pretty simple

They've never been living wages. Not without some serious sacrifices. My dad got out of the AF in 68, worked two jobs to make ends meet. Of course, people hunted, fished and gardened a lot then as well.

Of course, people didn't have many of the bills then that we have today, like data plans, internet, cable..etc. Those are probably a considerable portion of a low wagers net pay.

I started out min wage while going to night school, had to share a place with friends.

You’re not serious with this right? The whole basis of our financial system is that hard work, knowledge, experience, and skills earn higher pay. Being complacent and lazy in a menial job should not earn you a frilly life. I’m sorry if that upsets you. No one is entitled to not better themselves and be carried by the rest of society.

Because then you will have kids dropping out of school because they make just as much as their parents make and will think school is a waste of time. You should want to work hard to improve, make more, better yourself. Why do lazy people always want to settle?

Fact. Its a behavioral issue. Prices for labor are very subjective, systemizing it will entrench lower wage workers into a lifestyle

None of that changes if the lowest paid worker doesn't have to rely on others (the government) for subsidies

quote:

Being able to buy groceries without the government paying for a portion of them isn't a frilly life. 50 years ago a 20 year old could work a minimum wage job part time during school and full time in the summer and pay for his school and rent. That's an objectively better thing for society than that same person getting in crippling debt during school leading to waiting longer for home ownership, opening their own business, having children, etc.

Everyone should agree on this, no matter your political affiliation. The processes you take to get there is where people will differ.

Okay that’s fair, but still factors into the city
Although i have read that it has spilled over into the nicer neighborhoods of many cities
Including Chicago
