they intentionally make the dogs scared and torture them because "it makes them taste better"
If they wanted to farm and raise dogs for food then that's their thing...I will admit I a little biased because dogs are fricking awesome, but its the torture.
If I learned our farmers were torturing cows before slaughter I would lose my shite.

You've never been around anyone processing animals for consumption have ya?
Blowtorches are used all the time for fur, hair, feathers, etc.. Much simpler than and safer and faster than boiling a bunch of water and then dunking and plucking. Both industrially and personally (hunting/ranching) blowtorches are used to remove stuff off the skins.
Getting food to the tables all across America and the world is not a pretty picture. It's necessary for feeding 325+ million Americans though.

It may be true about the more terrified they are the better they taste. I know with hogs, they say just the opposite. "A hog shot without having been chased by dogs is better." Maybe that is for boars? Not sure. Maybe adrenaline does something to the meat.
