What will Louisiana's economy consist of when that stuff starts happening here? I don't think fossil fuels will ever completely fade away, but it shows just how stupid our leaders are that they have based our economy essentially on one thing, oil.

Chemical plants are needed now more than ever with this low fuel no fuel push.

And electricity doesnt come from thin air

Exactly. Political posturing of the most comical sort.

As with everything in China, there is official "government policy" and the "policy exceptions" that money and connections (guanxi) can buy.

Yeah there will never not be a demand for oil, unless we get really good at using carbon and base molecules.

Most new cars will be electric by 2040, even without regulations.

How you get the electricity is what will matter.

Our leaders are indeed stupid, but it's not like we have a bunch of new refineries and chem plants in every state. We'll be fine.

They are actually switching to wind power.

There's a very important concept called "power density" you should do some research on.

Lol. Then they won't get the power necessary.

We're only 25-50 years from American vehicles being overwhelmingly electric. The technology is evolving and it is getting cheaper.

Some will downvote and say oil will always come back but the owners of horses and buggies said the same thing in 1908 about their technology.

That's the market opportunity of a lifetime. To bad most of you don't believe in it.

Not scalable and can't meet demand

It is? Lithium batteries are the best we've got right now. Still need energy storage mechanisms for wind/solar before we cut start cutting out fossil fuels.

You think oil is only used for transportation? How do you generate the energy to charge the vehicle?

The world is using more and more power and energy technology outside of fossil fuels still isn't up to par as of now.

The point is that one day it will. It's inevitable.

It will, but it won't be soon, and it sure as hell won't be led by the Chinese. By the time they reach this goal, they will have bought up the remainder of Africa that they don't already own, and the entire continent will be an unreclaimed toxic strip mine.
