Turns out when you have 1.3 billion people, cities can get rather large.

Well it's just a fascinating socio-geographic observation.

In our hemisphere, a city of 11 million people is an urban beacon. In china however, it's just one more gargantuan city in a country filled with them.

So common place are cities this large in china, they're globally obscure and largely unknown.

This has zero to do with measuring the "size" of a city

China has over 150 cities with 1,000,000 population.

USA has 10 (maybe double if you count metro areas)

The U.S. is actually larger than China. But yeah, it's interesting not knowing such large cities.

If the United states went to war with China, it's interesting to think that we could conceivably kill the equivalent of our entire population and they would still have over 1 billion people.

Just because you're ignorant of something doesn't mean it's unknown or obscure.

Why can’t you grasp population of a city is the only way to judge the population size of a city and not desirablity of companies to move there?

You knew about Wuhan and the other 150 cities in China over 1,000,000 people?

Geographically the United states is only marginally larger than china, yet china is obscenely over populated.

Here I am thinking the northshore has too many frickin' people.

Because it fricking does!

I think the population density difference stems from the fact that our country as we currently know it was founded on freedom and self determination compared to China which has always been an autocratic/theological monarchy where the people serve the supreme leader. Very little personal freedom and possessions were allowed.

Now through in the exceptionally fertile land, extremely organized governmental structures, and the country being the oldest ongoing civilization in the world and bam! You have a shite ton of people.

A question that has always puzzled me is why the hell are there so damn many people
In India?

Is this really a thread about Oweo alters disguised as a thread about Chinese reproductive habits?

Go do a deep dive into India. Doesn’t it have more people than China, less square miles AND significant amounts of the Himalayas rendering portions uninhabitable?
