When 30% of your GDP is real estate and your home price to income ratio is over 20X you are going to have issues. Some cities in China have home price-to-income ratios approaching 50x. Can you imagine a US couple who are both teachers a couple of years out of college going in and asking for a $4.5 million dollar home loan? For reference, the US price-to-income ratio is more like 4.5X.

I think china could build a city and demolish it before Baton Rouge could finish a road project...like the college drive flyover

From what I have read they peaked last year but the population isn't projected to be halved until 2100.

They overcounted by about 100 million and it was all women. They reached peak population a decade ago, if not more. New estimates say their population will be halved by 2050.

Can we export 40 Million illegal aliens to them? Would solve the US housing crisis and give China a greater labor pool.

People were buying unbuilt homes and the real estate developers were using that cash just to buy more land rather than build the homes.

This is accurate. Evergreen default was the canary in the coal mine. China is actively imploding between this real estate bubble and the Covid lockdowns (the lockdowns being Xi doubling down on stupidity to save face). Foreign manufacturing is working to leave China, and tons of jobs will leave with it and leave their lower class and middle class struggling

Even removing the one child policy hasn't increased their birthrate.

That's because the rural areas are dominated by males because the females go to urban areas to improve their lot.

Can't have babies without females.

The urban areas are the same as the other advanced areas of the world with lower birthrates due to their status.

Their Belt and Road Initiative was always set up for countries to default on loans so that the Chineae could take control. They also forced the use of Chinese banking, Chinese workers, materials etc. It was great for a while. But eventually their is still money tied up with it and all the loans are in tremendously unstable parts of the world. They have been playing the long game and world politicians have helped them with their "developing country" status. That's why they made such gains.

I've always felt the US should institute a Marshall Plan style fund for these poor countries, where we can offer new loans with better terms to allow them to pay off the Chinese, which would frick the Chinese b/c they underprice the initial contract to make it more appealing. We'd basically be cutting them out and making them take a loss while gaining the same strategical advantage.

And completely by design.

Why else do you think Bill and Melinda Gates pour all of their money into abortion, promoting women in the workplace, and Healthcare in Africa? They know those things decrease the population and decrease the likelihood of childbirth.
