Clearly apples to oranges comparing those climates not to mention the difference with mosquitoes which will ruin the better times of day. I hope it is successful but at the end of the day it has some hurdles.

It can be done. Fans and misters for summer, heaters and fireplaces for winter. We’ve got quite a few here and it’s hotter and just about as humid. They’re typically always crowded.
Hg sply is busy year round. Just apparently not in this picture.
are their little bugs that are attracted to light that come out in huge swarms every afternoon to feast on the blood of innocent bystanders.

Or Atlanta
Or any other big city in the south that successfully has rooftop bars
And he didnt highlight Manhattans winters which are way more brutal than here......

Orkin's Top 50 Mosquito Cities list ranks metro areas by the number of mosquito customers served from April 1, 2016 to March 31, 2017. The list includes both residential and commercial treatments.
1. Atlanta
2. Washington, D.C. (+1)
3. Chicago (-1)
4. New York (+1)
5. Miami-Ft. Lauderdale, Fla. (+8)
6. Dallas-Ft. Worth, Texas
7. Houston (+5)
27. New Orleans, La. (+16)
40. Baton Rouge, La.
41. Charleston, S.C. (-16)
Obviously this is skewed by population, but mosquitoes are just as awful here.
There’s no excuse for a rooftop not succeeding in Baton Rouge because of weather or mosquitoes.

A rooftop bar in Louisiana is a pretty worthless feature. You can’t use it during the day from May-October, can’t use it during the many rainy days/nights, and no one wants to sit outside in August at night sweating their balls off.
Best of luck to them though..

cautiously optomistic, Weather in South Louisiana isn't conductive to open air eating or drinking, either misquitoes tearing you up, or the heat, humidity, and just the sun bearing down on you, makes it a hard thing to do in Louisiana.
In May, you'll have to rooftop drink in the dark to avoid the May termite swarms

How is this different than an uncovered courtyard or patio?
And New Orleans has plenty of rooftop bars.

Charleston has a ton of rooftop bars and they are basically like us climate wise
Yep. Good climate comparison.

This is an absurd take
Covered patios/rooftops with fans and misters (heaters and vinyl windows in winter) are very comfortable most of the year. There are cities with similar, and worse, climate to ours that have successful rooftop bars and restaurants.
And shite, night time is when it will be most popular anyway.
Baton Rouge people are so cynical they can't be optimistic about anything

The improvements coming to the Chimes on Highland include a rooftop bar and a new dining area.
On Monday, the chain's president Marianne Hood confirmed the incoming improvements, saying the restaurant expects to add about 50 more seats in the process.
The Chimes is a chain???

I guess 3 is technically a chain.

Are people really bitching about this....
They will have screens to keep the mosquitos out, then they will have cooling fans for the summer months. It is no different than people who go sit outside at the Chimes East, Londoner, Bulldog, Walk-On's, or the hundreds of places in New Orleans.

It will be nice if it’s ready when I am on the weekend of September 8.
