There's a middle ground to this. It's ok to not like some things, but this shite "my kid only eats chicken nuggets and hot dogs" is stupid.

Exactly. A restaurant is not the place for parents to stand their ground. Give the kid what he wants. Just don’t feed him chicken nuggets every night.

You don’t have to battle with a picky kid every meal. Give him nuggets a few times a week, but you also need to stand your ground the rest of the time. Tell your kid in advance what’s for dinner, and that’s the only thing available.

I never said that, what I said is that the premise of your entire arguement is flawed and stupid, because it is.

Parents today want to be friends with their kids.

I dont understand it. I finally have my wife following through with discipline with our 5 year old. We have been very blessed as she is a good kid but my wife would always wait for me to discipline her when she needed it. I finally told her tough shite, "we are in this together either way. If you want her to grow up to be a total shithead then I'm with you and we will both be her friend. If you want her to grow up to be a productive citizen, then we are both gonna do it my way." About 6 months in on my way and it's going very well.

So because I don't have kids I can't have the opinion that beating your kids is wrong? How does that make one bit of sense?

Eta: and again, I never said I did, only that your arguement is severely flawed.

You can have an opinion but until you have kids no one is going to take you serious.

It’s like this, my kids try to pull that crap from time to time but input what i want them to eat in front of them. They may say they don’t want to eat that and i say ok so don’t.

But they don’t get anything else.

Then once they realize they are actually hungry, they end up deciding they are gonna eat it anyway.

It’s amazing how hunger creates its own answer

Well that's just dumb. You can have not done many things and still be educated on the topic. You can read and observe thousands of hours on child behavior and parenting skills and be knowledgeable on the subject.

Is there a different sense when you've lived it every day? Sure. But to completely disqualify someone because they don't have first hand knowledge is a simple way to think

I think they are saying that never say never. You can have a planned action but sometimes those plans go south due to the situation at the moment.

That doesnt mean you have to delve into a objectively bad and stupid alternative. This isn't really all that hard.

Beating children isn’t parenting, dumbass. You are too stupid to have this conversation.
Is your next argument “are you going to say that I can’t comment about stealing from my kids?”

Judging parenting styles from a non parent is akin to telling an astronaut how to fix the space station. You don’t know what you are talking about so shut the frick up. But yes, you can still say “shooting a hole through the space craft is a bad idea” even if you are not an astronaut. Doesn’t make the rest of your ideas about raising a child any less stupid.

if I become a parent and make bad parenting decisions, my being a parent won’t change the fact that those decisions were bad.

Well, feeding your kids nothing but chicken nuggets isn't exactly a sign of good parenting.

It doesn't take a parent to understand that because that isn't some wisdom that you suddenly gain when you become a parent. Most 10 yo's can tell you that isn't healthy so I don't know what all the bitching is about.

My future kids will only eat lean meats, vegetables, and rice. Gotta beef them up so they can make it to the league

I made my daughter at least try most things once as a young child. If she tried and hated it I wouldn't force her to eat it. There are foods that I don't like and won't eat either.

This was our approach as well. It has worked well. She eats most everything I cook.

What if you are making what you think is the best decisions for your children and someone without children criticizes you?
