A quick question as to how the logistics of child support mediation goes.

I have a coworker that is going through a mediation as of now. Supposedly he had to get a DNA test as part of the mediation and now is awaiting a decision about payments and everything else assuming the kid is his. He is supposed to receive a certified letter next week and has to physically be present to receive it or he is not allowed to appeal whatever decision is made assuming it is unfavorable to him.

Is this true? Or if he is working offshore and unable to receive the letter does it matter about the time you have to appeal?
I basically think he's lying about the logistics just to avoid going offshore.

Why do you care?

Fella obviously has a lot going on.

Do you typically nanny on your other coworkers?

I care because it affects my job. I have to rely on him at work and when he consistently pulls moves like this it gets very tiresome. And management just buys all his bs every time.

Have him prove to you in writing that this is the case. It's a mediation and certainly they memorialized this at some point.

Sounds like a load of BS. Especially if it's just a mediation. Ask him for a verifiable note from the courthouse.

Never heard of this.

He'll know the results of mediation before it even gets to court for the judge's approval. Not like they issue rulings via USPS, unless there are some backwards arse states out there...

I'm not sure, but I believe his lawyer would be acceptable.

Sounds like you're relying on a trashy guy.
