10% is high. That would be 1 in 10. How high does it have to be to be problematic?

This is honestly the first time I've ever heard of anyone except military guys having it. I know a ton of cops are ex military guys and just assumed they came back from combat with it.

Take guns away from black males aged 15 to 50 and homicides go down to minuscule numbers. The MTV/media generation says “we need to talk about race” but will call anyone a racists who brings out the stats. Look at the BR Morn Advocate every year when it posts the photos of felons, there is only one token white male and the rest are democrats, I mean blacks.

i agree there definitely was and still is a problem with the excessive force used by cops in a lot of these shooting. I agree with protesting peacefully but guarantee it won't be peaceful.

Who said it wasn't problematic. I'm saying that MOST people, even LEOs, don't experience trauma, and of those that do < 10% experience PTSD.

So you're statement that there is a high probability of PTSD is unfounded.

My brother's sole task was taking guns off gang bangers in Portland.

Based on what? Sure it's probably higher than other places, but I've seen nothing to suggest it's high.

What the hell do you think happens when you are a first respond-er in an urban area like Chicago at night? Donuts and coffee for a couple of hours and a couple traffic stops?

It's not like these events are infrequent either. Be the first respond-er to an incident where a guy is slashing tires on PCP. I am taking a leap of judgment here but I am assuming this happened at night and in a high crime area where tire slashings on PCP happen. See how that works out 9/10 times.

And how does this prove your unfounded statements? Besides you're describing stress and stressors, which are more frequent but categorically different than trauma.

To put into context, ~ 30% of Vietnam Veterans developed PTSD ever. That means 70% of people dropped into a jungle thousands of miles from home, forced to live in horrible conditions 24 hours a day, while fighting one of the bloodiest wars never developed PTSD.

Even the worst part of Chicago is paradise compared to that. Not to mention the officers have a home to go to every night, and can enjoy leisure activities on a regular basis. Most importantly. the job dangers pale to that of a soldier; in fact, it's not even on the list of the most dangerous jobs.

In other words, your unfounded conjecture doesn't become more valid because you throw in some hyperbole in an attempt to elicit emotion. The probability of PTSD is relatively low.

You know that is the real problem here. You take them(guns) away and they steal more. They have access to guns like Isis has access to RPG's. The culture a lot of these youths are around is rap music, drugs, etc. They will get them even it means killing someone to get them.

What are you talking about? I used unfounded conjecture and and emotional elicitation? I think you are reading into what I am saying a little too much.

PTSD encompasses hyper-vigilance and irritability all the way to total dysfunction. I think you read my comment and projected bat shite crazy in lieu of PTSD YOU DOLT.

I've been thrown up against the wall in my house because my Dad thought I was flipping gang banger signs. I can't go near my brother's old neighborhood with him because he believes he is in danger (lived where he worked). Trust me. This isn't conjecture.

What does that have to do with the probability of experiencing PTSD in Chicago?

I'm not denying PTSD whatsoever. I'm disagreeing that there is a HIGH probability of it occuring. The conjecture is related to the fact that you have no evidence to support the statement.

Google PTSD and police. I found a lot of stats but give no fricks since you are being argumentative and mincing words. My point is it's not that hard to see how this happens. I am not condoning the cop's action but saying you ask people to respond to incidences where dudes are slashing tires on pcp and over time you might have a haywire response. It's basic fricking psychology. However, the racism card dilutes common sense.
