The sooner society accepts the blood fact that we have a class of people who do not regard any life including their own the sooner we can properly fix this problem.

How could this happen? Guns are strictly regulated in Chicago I assume it's safe to say criminals don't obey laws

No the new twist is they blame the states around Illinois saying their gun laws are too lax so the criminals get the guns from other states

And the baby was less than a year old. Chocking hazard? I can't imagine having the kid in back with a lollipop. If at all, an adult holding the thing and/or being ready to pull it out of their mouth.

Sure.
Voting for Democrats in major cities almost guarantees policies that reduce consequences for repeat offenders, weaken and demoralize policing, tolerate public disorder, prioritize ideology over literally everything, and ultimately removes the deterrence that keeps repeat violent crime in check. We know this to be true because of the glaring secondary effects that happen soon after, such as: boarded-up storefronts, businesses sprinting for the exits, the stubborn taxpayers who stay end up paying more for less, downtowns turning into dangerous ghost towns, and normal families running for the hills.

Now. ....is this where you roll out the usual copy-paste Reddit/DU talking points about inequality, lack of opportunity, mental health, and distrust of law enforcement as the explanation for why a small subset of people, in very specific places, commit a disproportionate amount of the gun violence in this country?

if so, save yourself the downvotes and just don't.

Nice to see those draconian gun laws doing their part in preventing gun violence.

What is the deterrence? Do criminals like these make sure to comb over the local laws before deciding to turn to crime and gun violence?

All of these and crime are symptoms of the poverty cycle, but you already knew that.

another lazy argument HC.

Cute. So, the same crowd that insists laws shape behavior in every other aspect of society suddenly now believes criminals operate in a consequence-free vacuum?

Deterrence isn’t about the bad guys flipping through the penal code before committing a crime. It's about whether they’ve seen, repeatedly, that people who do this get caught, prosecuted, and punished. When that pattern vanishes, guess what? Their behavior adjusts accordingly. (see hundreds of years of evidence)

You can throw out “muhhh poverty cycle” excuse like it’s a magical spell, but we all know that's just more Leftist deflection. Who introduced, championed, and defended the exact policies that weakened prosecution, gutted police departments, relaxed bail, tolerated disorder, and turned consequences into optional? None of that happened by chance. They were voted in, campaigned on, and defended as reform by Democrats, but you already knew that.

By all means keep blaming “poverty” for all the inner city problems and repeating those Reddit/DU talking points like a good boy.

Sure, it’s “cute”. Much like you pretending consequences don’t change behavior IRL.

Quite a few cops have told me thugs are really bad shots. RIP to the woman that passed but it's not surprising at least one survived.
