Had one in my Colorado and now have one in the corporate Traverse.
It is a good engine that never gave me issues, BUT I did not have the Colorado that long (<30,000 miles) and have only 12000 miles on the Traverse. Thanks to gearing, the Traverse gets awesome gas mileage, but has zero acceleration. The Colorado was peppy, not really quick, and got average gas mileage.

No issues with mine pulling a 24' boat or utility trailer.
Didn't realize that Chevy was an inline-4 though. Ford's 2.7L is a v6.
I know a lot of guys that have 5.7's & 5.3's with 300k miles and no problems.
The odds of a 2.7L Turbo in a Silverado getting to 300k miles are slim to none

what does this mean?
ETA: I currently have the 2.7L V6 in my '24 F-150. It has plenty enough power and I have zero complaints. My previous was a '19 with the 5.0L V8 and I can't tell much of a difference in performance but now I get slightly better gas mileage (21 vs 19.5). I regularly pull a small 6x9 utility trailer and occasionally a 21 ft bay boat with no issues. The V8 probably had slightly better pickup while towing. I realize that the engine probably won't ever see 300k miles but I don't plan on keeping it that long anyway.

It is our fastest selling powertrain combination for Silverado 1500 in our dealer group. It also powers one of our least expensive packages(W/T, Custom, LT, RST) and offers good value, mileage, performance for the price...

Ive had the 2.7 Ford eco boost and the 2.7 Chevy and they were both good trucks. Interested to see the 5.7 in the 2027 Silverado

Underpowered and the transmission is dogshit
My son's work truck has this engine and the transmission SUCKS. If you don't mind not being able to pull anything no real gas saving and sounding like the jetson's mobile buy one. Most of the trucks in that fleet have had the transmission replaced.

This is true because of fleet purchases from companies. The engine sucks and the transmissions are worse. When will folks wake up and realize that a twin turbo 4 cyl is fine in a car but has no business in a truck let a lone a WORK truck even a work truck that's 4x4.

I have one in my the corporate GMC 1500. Coming from a 3.0 Duramax I don't hate it. The turbo can be loud at lower speeds, but the pickup is OK for a full-size truck. You aren't going to win any races, but you aren't going to get run over in traffic.
Fuel milage has been around 20 as calculated by the onboard computer.
If I were buying the truck I would probably have chosen something different, but I cant complain much about the engine in a free truck.

The combo works well in our fleet of trucks (around 50).
We are a sales team that drives a lot, but no towing. The team can use the truck like their personal truck for everything but towing and my direct reports haven't had any trouble.

Not in our dealer group, over 90% are retail purchases.
The reason as far as I can tell, the powertrain is much less expensive, and in the lesser lrim levels, the truck is overall much less expensive.
Does everyone want a leather trimmed, V8 pickup? Yeah, probably so. Can everyone afford that leather trimmed V8 pickup? Maybe, but certainly enough of them are passing on them, buying the less expensive trim levels & powertrains...

You might as well add the anti-lag for it.
And by that I mean, buy a different vehicle.

Not to argue, but probably 85%+ medium duty, low cab forward have turbocharged, 4cyl engines?

The engine is great, the GM 8L90 transmission is garbage. Its a poorly designed valve body that makes it bad. You can get a better valve body for it but that's a 1500-2g aftermarket part.

I’d pass on anything GM made nowadays.

I have a 2021 Silverado Custom with the 2.7T, and it runs great. The transmission, on the other hand, is a completely different story…

I have a 2017 F150 with this engine and it's been a good truck. It does what I need it to do. Everything else on the truck would be falling apart before I ever put 200k on it, much less 300. I drive like 7500 miles a year these days
