There have been a number of cheating threads lately, which got me to thinking. With declared percentages nearing 50% and real numbers probably a good bit higher if you throw in emotional affairs, it's pretty safe to say that most marriages will have some for of cheating.

So what makes a person cheat? Is it what they aren't getting at home? That they are a piece of shite? Or they just don't give a damn about things anymore?

Also, given that cheating is much more prevalent that one wants to admit, is it becoming more acceptable? And, is the person who dates/screws a married person really looked down on?

Not sure I'll ever get married again with how my eyes have been opened lately in regards to infidelity. Women that I would have sworn wouldn't cheat, do.

That I have no doubt. And social media is the death of many marriages.

I love these threads. All the divorced, trashy baws shite on their ex wives and claim all women are crazy while maintaining they were 100% blame free.

When a couple starts posting about how wonderful their significant other is or how much they are in love with their best friend you can bet your arse they are having trouble at home and one or both are cheating.

^Truth.

And sites like FB tend to bring out the worst. I've have a few married women start with seemingly innocent messages that quickly went down the rabbit hole.

100% agree, how dare I go to war forcing my first wife to cheat on me. What an a-hole move on my part.

Usually when someone cheats, it's because they are selfish.

You can list all of the other things that go into it, but it really just boils down to one person thinking of themselves and what they want over someone else.

To be fair, she did slip and fall on my dick. Like literally. I couldn't even but I did.

In the situations I'm aware of, most felt unwanted/rejected by their spouse for an extended period of time. It wears on a marriage faster than anything.

I'm ears deep in both work and family matters. I hardly have enough time and energy to maintain a hobby. My idea of cheating is grabbing dinner and eating it in the car before I get home.

people will justify their behavior however they can to shift blame of themselves / make themselves feel better.

Yep. My favorite is how a friend's wife told him that her affair was his fault.

However, are the Jody's really looked down upon anymore?

How about some details? How long were you married? How long did you date? Kids? Etc...

I'm not saying it's ever justified. I just understand how it happens. And the importance of not making your partner feel unwanted. Nobody wants to feel that way.
