The woman left town for the weekend after the husband broke the news he wasn't happy. Presumably she'll go back next week and figure the rest out.

Stupid people make bad decisions. The father had to know early on he was not going to be happy with the relationship.
I guess like a lot of selfish small minded people he thought if they had a kid things would get better.

This situation where fathers are bailing out on their families is bordering on pandemic. I know of two other cases where abandoned women are dealing with the same devastating abandonment by husbands.
You are correct when you say divorce is hard on the women, but it's especially hard on the children.It's really hard to watch actually.

Well, my father beat the hell out of my mother and my earliest memories are laying in the dark listening to the beatings. They divorced and he went to prison for a stretch. The whole thing sucked, but I didn't lose because of the divorce.
