I just got notified of an increase, despite an old shitty vehicle, no claims in years, and a clean record.

I live in Louisiana - my new policy effective in December decreased 5%.

Mine jumped 25% when my 6 month policy renewed in July.

Mysteriously, when I called them to discuss the drastic jump it dropped back down to the prior cost the next month.

Bastards.

I usually switch no less frequently than every 18 months

Keep the exact coverages and I can mysteriously get better rates by changing companies

Illegals with no insurance factor in as well. When I lived in corpus I paid twice what fort worths was. They had as many wrecks as a city three times it's size, and a majority of them were uninsured/underinsured.

I moved from LA to Minnesota in Jan. My premium was cut in half when I updated my address.

I always knew LA rates were ridiculously high, but considering I now have to drive in ice and snow 4-5 months of the year it seems even more ridiculous.

Who among us will think of these poor insurance companies? Surely they are running at a loss across the board with these coordinated price hikes. Will the CEOs and execs even get paid?

Same here. Mine jumped about 15% when it renewed. As did every one of my coworkers that I polled.

LA - BS about the -6%.
I am seeing rates up 25% to 100% with no accidents, claims in NOLA and the Northshore right now.

I'm only aware of one insurance company out of the top 25 that will have a combined ratio under 100 ( turn a profit) for 2023.

My company will not, our only business that is currently profitable is commercial.

The issue is that insurance is so highly regulatory that in some states it can take a year to get a rate revision out. So if car part prices shoot up, labor increases, severity of claims increases, insurance companies undercharge and overpay for a year or more most times.

The fluctuations you're seeing with premium now are reactions to inflation pricing a year or so ago, with some forecasting guesses as well.

Mine went up about 10% even though my state is -13% in that graphic.

Ga police cars have a scanner that checks for insurance through the license plates. I can’t figure out why LA doesn’t do the same thing.
LA does this, too. It’s a joke.

I pay $85 per month for 2 vehicles. Liability only. Yes, they are both pieces of shite.
