Scientist have mortgages and kids going to college just like every one else and money matters no less in their profession than any other. While they may be searching for the truth in many cases where they look can be influenced by who is funding the search.

Scientists, IMO, should be the most respected folk on earth. Its really an understatement what these people mean to our existence but you hardly hear from or see them.
They're also huge group-thinkers. The global warming farce has really exposed that, as well as the atmosphere of fear that a dissident lives in daily. It's a wonder anyone ever innovates anything, as they have to battle the vitriol of the herd.

Devil's Advocate here. So many people want to berate scientists and money being the driver for grants is likely an issue. However, something needs to pay for the research which admittedly makes it susceptible to being prejudice but how do we appropriate money for science if it isn't someone's end game?
As for your example of global warming, sure there's some impropriety but why do you say they are all charlatans? None of us know what is causing global temperatures to rise over the last decade or so. It may be a blip on the radar, part of a natural cycle, or a manmade issue but none of us know. Why do people of able mind get so vehemently opposed to any study that is contrary to their OPINION?" How is it possible that you are so right in explaining away something that IS happening when you can offer less proof than the so called scientists?
I understand that any change in policy without China is a waste of time for everyone but to discredit everything you see on the issue because you're so sure it's a crock is foolish beyond words.

Industries? Probably academia by a long shot. It's an industry devoted to teaching young adults about "the real world", lead by people who were too scared shiiteless of capitalism to join the real world so they just stayed in school.
