Jobs kids today should consider—

Robotics
AI applied sciences
Neural networks/deep learning
Data scientist
Computer scientist

Ya know, all the STEM shite Americans now suck at.

For the young ‘uns, think of today like you look back at the 80s now. I think back to the 80s and realize I had an opportunity to dive headfirst into computer sciences, programming, internet, etc as a kid. I’d be a rich mofo if I’d already had sound understanding and use of those technologies that early. Kids today are no different…they should be messing with AI now to think of novel ways to use it and manipulate it to do what they want it to do.

Shitty bosses have been shooting themselves in the face for years w/that already .

They'll advertise an entry level job w/minimum pay, demand a fricking masters degree and 5+ year experience to get an interview, and then will turn around and bitch that nobody wants to work.

You haven't had any retort other than "durrr the AI thingy be learning stuff".

I work daily on automating tasks in a high tech industry using AI, APIs, simple scripting, orchestrators, predictive analytics, etc. I’m not here to teach you. If you’re curious, you’ll read about it. If you’re not, well, congrats?

All I’m saying is it’s irresponsible of you to type as if you’re some sort of expert when it’s clear you’re doing nothing more than taking small tidbits of things you’ve heard and using them to come to some grand conclusion of how AI works.

ETA: A good place to start is to read about the black box problem. Should both terrify you and show you that there’s a lot for you to learn on the subject.

You're claiming to be an expert in the field and that these hyper-advanced AI's exist, but you can't provide a single example of one. I never claimed to be an expert.

Difficulty understanding how something complex works does not equal the existence of some higher-powered AI that's sentient or capable of being self-sufficient or operating without human interaction.

But I still think that with young people not wanting to start at entry level jobs that it will force the hands of companies.

So you want a kid with a college degree and experience with student loans that you expect to start immediately producing without any training to start at an equivalent salary as someone 30 years ago that had no experience and no degree that had to be trained?

This is why business is broken right now.

There is not one hand on the floor on the automated rig. You can even preload racks that will feed pipe up.

Will there not be any humans on the rig in 10 yrs. No, probably never due to the DT cost impact.

Will there be near as many people as a traditional rig, hell no, not even half.

I'm not fully understanding this post.

If you are just out of school you should not expect to get paid what a 20-30 year employee makes.

In my case with 'new' hires is they have 'school' experience but no field experience. They want to make what I make yet can't do the work.

Somehow these CEOs think they will be insulated. If there is some kind of societal collapse these people will have a target on their back.

This obviously is true in many cases. In my case the new people are lazy.
