quote:

Gov. John Bel Edwards and CenturyLink have reached an agreement to extend the company's commitment to maintain its headquarters in Louisiana, a source with direct knowledge of the deal confirmed to USA Today Network.

The deal, which will be announced jointly by Edwards and CenturyLink Chief Executive Jeff Storey in the coming weeks, will keep CenturyLink's corporate headquarters on U.S. 165 North in Monroe through 2025.

Spokespersons for both Edwards and CenturyLink declined to comment.

That's what I think. 6 years seems like just about the right amount of time for them to comfortably plan and execute a major move like that.

I am certain the state made some "concessions" which I am not entirely against. Big companies have figured out how to use the threat of moving (in or out) as a way to gain tax advantages of other pot sweetners.

I do think it is not fair to other perhaps smaller companies and I think clearly shows how we desperately need an corporate tax structure overhaul.

Congrats on our state for retaining a major employer!

Good news for Monroe for now. If CenturyLink would have left Monroe, it would become like Bastrop in no time. They need to invest in more industries and plants up there. Brings more money, will improve the economy, and get rid of a lot of culcha

Why would you as a businessman move your company where you would have to double everyone's salary just to be able to survive? That just makes zero sense to me. Now the label of corporate might move to Colorado, eventually, but moving that many jobs is just bad business.

Wonder what sort of incentives the state is offering. They employ a lot of people, I assume you do whatever is necessary to keep those jobs in state.

It was founded in Macon, Georgia and moved to Monroe. Their headquarters has been in Atlanta since WWII.

Why would a successful company move to Texas just to fill a job?

Lol. They may be “headquartered” in Monroe but almost all the jobs are in Denver and the execs spend most of their time there

This has to be a joke.

I use CentryLink in WA. They are the only other competitor to the all powerful Comcast. The enemy of my enemy is my friend.
