Cease and Desist in marriage?

Truly asking for a friend.
Wife left over a month ago to visit with her family out of town. She never returned.
Yesterday, he was served with divorce papers and a cease and desist letter. I don't know all of the details, but I have been informed that his bank account (they shared an account) has had a "hold" placed on it. Oh, and she doesn't work. And they have a young child together.
He has been of the mindset that they were going to work things out, while apparently she has been thinking something different all along.
Any advice to offer him except to not get married again? How can he access any funds?

Hire a lawyer
Also...he should send a cease and desist letter to her prohibiting her from sending anymore letters to him. Such a power move

make sure his direct deposit pay checks are deposited to a new account without her on it.

Good call. Because bills will still have to be paid. I imagine this is how a person's credit can go to shite in a divorce.
To above poster, she was definitely visiting with her parents and friends the entire time she was away. This has been verified.
I told him a while back to get a lawyer. He didn't want to listen. So now she got the first "shot." Now maybe he will listen. But that's about all the advice that I am going to give to him. I want a professional in this area to help him.

It's shite like this why men sometimes go off the deep end and go postal on their SO. I'm not excusing that type of behavior, just saying I understand and can see how a normally good person can make a life changing decision in a split second.

Dude. That's not just how. Women tend to open accounts the husband doesn't know about when married and signing them up as cosigner without batting an eye. Then they either walk away with the credit card maxed or a large negative balance on a checking account. I got served by three different entities i didn't know about after divorce.
They don't just frick up credit, they can absolutely cause bankruptcy. Fortunately credit unions after a few years of discharge will hear you out if you explain it.

You joke. But he now has two young children with two different baby mammas. And he was married to both (still is technically married to the second right now).

This is like dejavu. I have learned my lesson. I will never put more then the minimum to scrape by for paying joint bills each month into a joint account.
Bitches be going wild lately around here. Start saving your money in hidden off shore accounts. Greedy bitches

Something about coming together as one.

My wife is on everything I have. Even my future business. I trust her. She hasn't given me any reason not to. She stuck with me through an absolute shite time. She's not going anywhere. Except for BBC. Only exception.

Motherfricker I'm not joking. People who laugh at making 200-300 extra $ a week after divorce are the idiots who just sit around and bitch and moan while back-support and expenses pile up.
That pizza gig was the ONLY reason I survived 2011-2015 without a penny owed in back support or having my chirrens go without. One day they'll understand what dad did for em. My son does now. But he's unusually frugal and financially smart for an 11 yr old.

Awful shite. Since I haven't been there, my mind doesn't tend to think this can even happen. But obviously it does.

I get it. Since I know you personally, and have known you for a very long time, I admire the dedication, intent and commitment that you made for your children. More fathers could learn a thing or two from you. End of feel good talk.

Yep even in this day and age a woman can financially ruin a household with debt the husband doesn't know about.
On the flipside, husbands do this via gambling or drugs. But more often it's the wife who then cries "i was buying stuff for the family" when she's outed for having 7 credit cards maxed out at 24% on $50k.
